Why I decided to change my blogger name

Ok, I think it's time we got this out of the way. As I first mentioned I would be doing a couple weeks ago, I have officially changed my blogger name from Hippo to SLOTHBEAR. But the real story goes back a lot longer than that. I took SLOTHBEAR as my DJ name during the summer of 2023, right around when my one year anniversary of blogging was, but continued blogging as Hippo, although the SLOTHBEAR name sort of found its way on to the server. And then my last two years of marching band, there was a Discord server for the UC sax section, which I was part of. Still, no one here knew me as Hippo except on here.  Fast forward to the second half of 2025, of course, I was getting my posts out way too late, sometimes even after the next countdown ended. I was feeling a lack of motivation, with a decent bit of schoolwork to do plus marching band, I was considering taking some extended break from blogging but ultimately decided against that, and I eventually went with officially dropp...

First post of 2026 (and the beginning of a new era) (Week of 12/3/2026)

Hello everyone, welcome to another post, first of 2026 and the first ever since I updated my blogger name. I will do a post sometime tomorrow explaining why I decided to change my blogger name in the first place. But for now, let's just focus on this countdown and my new color coding: Great Good Decent Mediocre Awful And now on to this week's countdown. We had no exits this week (as I sort of predicted in my last post. So let's just get into it. Countdown: 30. Justin Bieber- Yukon (-3) 29. Sienna Spiro- Die On This Hill (-6) 28. Last post of 2025 (and last post as Hippo) (Week of 12/27/2025)

So this is the last post of 2025, and also my last post before reverting to my IRL DJ name SLOTHBEAR at the beginning of 2026. I mentioned this would be happening last week, and then I will be doing my post for next week after I get back from Memphis, which will be followed by a post explaining why I decided to change my blogger name which comes out the next day. So for now, lets just do this countdown, here are our exits: Jessie Murph- I'm Not There For You (#29 last week) Lady Gaga- The Dead Dance (#15 last week) Countdown: 30. Tyla- Chanel (-2) 29. 2nd to last post of 2025 (and 2nd to last as Hippo) (Week of 12/20/2025)

So I think you saw the title of this post and are wondering what is going on. So at the beginning of 2026, I will be dropping the Hippo moniker and instead reverting to using my IRL DJ name SLOTHBEAR for this blog and for the Discord. The change will go into effect on January 3rd, 2026, as I will be in Memphis with the UC Band on New Year's Day for the Liberty Bowl the following day, and January 3rd is when I will be getting back home. Additionally, I will be changing the font and colors I use. All this is to keep this blog fresh and increase my chances of getting posts out on time. Anyways, on to this week, pretty standard for this time of year. Let's just get into it, here is our one exit: Leon Thomas- Mutt (#25 last week) Countdown: 30. Justin Bieber- Yukon (-2) 29. Jessie Murph- I'm Not There For You (-2) 28. Tyla- Chanel (+2) 27. Role Model- Writing's On The Wall (Debut) 26. Meghan Trainor- Still Don't Care (=) 25. Madison Beer- Bittersweet (-3) 24. Tate McR...

My top 30 songs of 2025

Image
Hello everyone, this is my top 30 songs of 2025. Once again, this will follow the same criteria as my previous best lists. Let's get into it. 30. Alex Warren/ Jelly Roll- Bloodline So we're starting off with the first of two Alex Warren songs on here, and this one is rather fun. He compared this to an Avicii song when it came out, and I can definitely see that, and both of them sound pretty good over this production. I feel like this could have used an Avicii style drop, but it's fine, everything about this works. 29. Morgan Wallen/ Lil Wayne/ Rick Ross- Miami Ok, I doubt I should like this. The original to this was on Morgan Wallen's album I'm The Problem, and it's about a trip to Miami he took where he hooked up with some girl down there, but then he makes it known in the hook that he doesn't like Miami as much as he does Nashville. Fast forward to two months later, we get this version with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. As I've made it known with Broadway...
