Last post of 2025 (and last post as Hippo) (Week of 12/27/2025)

So this is the last post of 2025, and also my last post before reverting to my IRL DJ name SLOTHBEAR at the beginning of 2026. I mentioned this would be happening last week, and then I will be doing my post for next week after I get back from Memphis, which will be followed by a post explaining why I decided to change my blogger name which comes out the next day. So first up, after about a month in the abyss, Backwards by the Jonas Brothers is on here. This is pretty good. It has an interesting enough beat and everyone sounds pretty good here. I'll take this.

Lastly, The Big Goodbye re-entered to my surprise. I still quite like this, so I'm perfectly fine with it re-entering, even if it will only last two to three weeks.*

*Usually, the first countdown of a calendar year doesn't have any exits, and sometimes, the second countdown of a calendar year doesn't either.

Hitbound:
Alex Warren/ Gigi Perez- Eternity
Tate McRae- Nobody's Girl
Max/ Andy Grammer- The Thing I Love
Freya Skye- Silent Treatment
JYT- What U Want
The Kid Laroi- A Perfect World
Girlset- Little Miss
Alessi Rose- Get Around
NF- Fear
Emei- Ginger Tea
Sabrina Carpenter- Such A Funny Way (Debut)
In Color- Lighter
Jessie Murph- I Stay I Leave I Love I Lose
Charli XCX- Chains Of Love
5 Seconds Of Summer- I'm Scared I'll Never Sleep Again
Olivia Dean- So Easy (To Fall In Love)

Just great. I think it was last week I said that with Tears by Sabrina Carpenter on its way out, we may get the first week in over two years without a Sabrina Carpenter song on the countdown sometime soon, but it looks like I spoke way too soon, as we now have this bonus track from Man's Best Friend called Such A Funny Way. And just as I expected, this is decent. The main issue I have with this is the second verse is slower than the rest of the song, and that is slightly distracting but not too much. The rest of the song has a solid beat and Sabrina Carpenter sounds fine enough here. But then, could this please be the last Sabrina Carpenter song we have on here for a few months?

We lost Dracula, which is in the abyss. Hopefully it ends up debuting.

Blurbs:
Our exits were I'm Not There For You and The Dead Dance. I'm Not There For You is easily among Jessie Murph's best songs and probably shouldn't have flopped as hard as it did. And The Dead Dance had a great run on here and will be missed.

I don't exactly know how much longer So Unfair will last given its recent drop.

Looks like Still Don't Care is finally starting to take off.

Glad To See Not Ok rebounding.

Ordinarily, I'd be happy with The Fate Of Ophelia not being #1, but Taylor Swift unfortunately replaced herself at #1 with Opalite. This is already starting to get quite ridiculous, as if it wasn't already. Where Is My Husband and Vodka Cranberry should be #1 instead, but it looks like we may have to wait until 2026 for that to happen, and I hope it happens sooner rather than later.

I guess that does it for me in this post, see you guys in my next post (with a new name, a new font, and new colors).
