Last Year's #1: Taylor Swift- Mr Perfectly Fine
My Favorite Song Last Year: Regard/ Troye Sivan/ Tate Mcrae- You
Recommendations for Hits 1: Caamp- Lavender Girl, and Zion & Lennox/ Danny Ocean- Brisa
Our first debut is Supermodel by Maneskin. This is really good. The production is quite catchy and Damiano David sounds good. I hope this does well.
Next up, we have Cooped Up by Post Malone and Roddy Ricch. I've always liked both of these guys, and here is really no exception. This is really fun. Both of them sound good and the production is really fun despite being slightly minimalistic, but not as minimalistic as something like Late At Night from last year.
And Finally, we have Me Myself and I by 5 Seconds Of Summer. This grew on me during the past week. I enjoy the production here and Luke Hemmings sounds fine, but I'm still not sure what is preventing me from putting this in green. Oh well, I still prefer G Eazy and Bebe Rexha's song of the same name.
Hitbound (not including Sunday Bests)
The Chainsmokers- I Love U
Bazzi- Will It Ever Feel The Same
Em Beihold- Too Precious (Debut)
Conor Maynard- Pgnl (Debut)
John Legend/ JID- Dope (Debut)
Tate Mcrae- What Would You Do
Tove Lo- No One Dies From Love
Harry Styles- Late Night Talking (Debut)
Stephen Sanchez- Until I Find Found You (Debut)
88Rising/ Bibi- Best Lover (Debut)
Tai Verdes- 100 Sad Songs (Debut)
Jack Harlow- Dua Lipa
Ashe- Hope You're Not Happy
Lawrence- Don't Lose Sight
Our first debut comes comes from Em Beihold, this is called Too Precious. This is good. She sounds good here, and I enjoy the shuffled beat here. Plus, the lyrical content is interesting. I'm not really that sold on it yet, but it could grow on me, who knows?
PGNL by Conor Maynard is up next. This is super enjoyable, I like his accent here, and the production here is cool. I'd really like to see this do well.
We have a really interesting collaboration up next, Dope by John Legend and JID, the latter of which you might remember from Enemy by Imagine Dragons. This might be my favorite John Legend song ever. The production is super cool, and both of them sound great throughout, JID's verse here being better than his verse on Enemy. Overall, solid bop.
Well... I think we all could have predicted that there would be a random track off Harry F**king Styles's new album on Hitbound this weekend. You didn't want that? Well, too bad. Because this one, Late Night Talking, is now on Hitbound. Wanna know what's sad? I would have liked this if it was by Dnce, Years & Years, or Justin Bieber, because the production and melodies are solid. It's only a shame that this is a Harry F**king Styles song, so yeah, this is bad. Plus, Hits 1 is going to let this hit #1 in the future, and I hope it doesn't.
(breath of relief after that rant before talking about artists I have never heard of before) So, next up, we have Until I Find Found You by Stephen Sanchez, and this has the same issue I have with Reckless by Madison Beer and Fix It To Break It by Clinton Kane: It would be better remixed. I'm not sure what producer's style would fit it but it is kind of slow in this version, he sounds good, and the melodies fit the song fine, which is why I gave it the blue ranking. But I'll need to listen to this some more.
Okay, did we really need another 88rising/ Bibi collab here? I did not like The Weekend from earlier this year mainly because it stayed for too long and I found it mediocre when I first heard it. (By the way, that also happened with Heartbreak Anniversary by Giveon and Good Without by Mimi Webb almost a year ago.) As for this new song, Best lover, it's tolerable for now, it's a lot more interesting than the Weekend and so much more fresh, hence the decent ranking.
Our last debut is from Tai Verdes, this is called 100 Sad Songs. This sounds similar to AOK from a year ago (wow, can't believe it's been that long) but in a different key. Not complaining here because I liked that song when it was popular even though it faded on me a little bit. As for this song, He sounds really great, and the production is cool. That's all I really have to say here.
We lost This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like, In The Stars, and Where You Are. The first one is in the abyss, so I hope it can debut next week, I really wish In The Stars was given a chance to debut because it was really great, and I could not care less about Where You Are.
Blurbs
Our exits were The Motto, Hold My Hand, and To The Moon. I think The Motto had a great run, plus it was not as good as The Business, which might be Tiesto's best song. I'm fine with Hold My Hand not being as big as Shallow, and To The Moon should have lasted a little bit longer.
Ok I'm sure this is Love It When You Hate Me's last week here as it dropped to #28 this week.
Nice to see Move climb 8 spots off its debut last week.
However, I'm not happy that 10 Things I Hate About You climbed 3 spots from last week. This didn't need to happen. I hope this does not stick around after it's the one to watch.
Five consecutive songs got two spot jumps: Out Of Time, Sunroof, Bones, Bam Bam, and When You're Gone. I'm happy about that because they are all good (except When You're Gone, which is just good).
Not to mention Bam Bam is now in the top 10 for the first time.
And of course Ass It Was held the #1 spot for the second week in a row due to the album release. This can get dethroned next week by Megan Thee Stallion, Dove Cameron, or literally anyone else.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you next week.
