Last Year's #1: Olivia Rodrigo- Deja Vu
My Favorite Song Last Year: Regard/ Troye Sivan/ Tate Mcrae- You
#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Zion & Lennox/ Danny Ocean- Brisa (pls debut)
No debuts, but a re-entry from To The Moon by Jnr Choi and Sam Tompkins. I realize I have never gone over why I like this, so I will. But first, I should point out I found it mediocre its first three weeks on the countdown, then it grew on me a lot. Anyways, I really enjoy it now. Jnr Choi has an interesting voice, and he sounds sort of like Pop Smoke. The production here is also really cool, and Sam Tompkins' intro sets the song up for greatness. I'm glad this is back.
Hitbound (not including Sunday Bests)

Dixie- Wild (Debut)
Em Beihold- Too Precious
Mabel/ 24kgoldn- Overthinking (Debut)

Madeline The Person- Mean (Debut)
Tove Lo- No One Dies From Love
Blackbear/ MGK- Gfy (Debut)
Stephen Sanchez- Until I Found You
88rising/ Bibi- Best Lover
Our first debut is Dixie's latest, Wild. The quality of her music has been going downhill since she used the title of Brakence's song F Boy for her own song last year, however, this is better than The Real Thing, but not by much. She sounds fine, and the production is fine, but I'm not feeling this a whole lot.
Mabel and 24kgoldn collaborated a couple years ago with Tik Tok with Clean Bandit. Today, they bring us Overthinking. This would have been my favorite song if we did not have the new Blackbear/ MGK collab on here, which I will go over later. As for this, both of them fit in really well with the production and their voices mix really well. Also, it's in the key of B Flat major, and if a song is in that key, I'm almost guaranteed to like it. So yeah, I hope this does well.
Up next, we have Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, and Young Thug on a song called Potion. I also like this. It reminds me of Levitating from last year, and I liked that song. Dua sounds good here, and Thug also delivers some great verses, though I would not say they are better than his contributions on Way 2 Sexy by Drake from last year or Pushin P by Gunna from earlier this year, and those two songs might be two of the best songs I have ever heard. But this new one really needs to do well here.
It's time for me to share my opinion on a random track off Tate Mcrae's new album, this one that Hits 1 picked up on is called Don't come back. I have been moderately underwhelmed by a few of the songs off the album that have reached Hits (looking at you, Feel Like This and She's All I Wanna Be). But this is fine. She sounds good, and this is slightly catchy. I should give this a few more listens.
Ok, up next we have discount Tate Mcrae. I say this because this next song, Mean by someone named Madeline The Person feels like a lot like a Tate Mcrae song. Madeline The Person actually sounds a lot like Tate Mcrae, and the lyrical content screams Tate 100%.
Saving the best for last, we have Gfy by Blackbear and MGK. Talk about a banger. Anytime MGK and Blackbear collab, I'm in for something great. I really liked My Ex's Best Friend from 2020. I also liked Make Up Frick (Make up Sex, for those that don't watch RoomieOfficial's videos) but it was not as good mainly due to Maybe with Bring Me The Horizon being better and the single at the time Hits 1 picked up on Make Up Frick. Anyways, I really enjoy this. Both Blackbear and MGK sound great here per usual, and Barker's production slaps. It's only a shame MGK is going back to rap for his next album, so I really hope this new song does well.
We lost What Would You Do, I Love U, Dope, Dua Lipa (the Jack Harlow song), and Hope You're Not Happy. Both Dope and Dua Lipa should have been given a chance to debut, What Would You Do was replaced by Don't Come Back, so it makes sense, I Love U is in the abyss, so hopefully it debuts sometime soon, and I'm perfectly fine with Hope You're Not Happy leaving, it was never that memorable.
Ok so remember last week when I said Until I Found You would be better remixed? Well, I have decided that if Gryffin and Galantis teamed up to remix it, it would be so much better. Just my opinion, however.
Blurbs
We had one exit this week, House On Fire by Mimi Webb. I'm glad this was her first countdown entry, as Good Without sucked and I can't remember what 24/5 sounds like.
Why did Cooped Up fall two spots off its debut?
Love It When You Hate Me, please don't pull a Stay
Move has now cracked the top 20 for the first time. Also, Freaky Deaky cracked the top 15 for the first time. Yay for both of them.
Enemy fell hard to #18 this week. I'm not about to complain, it had a great run here and spent six weeks at #1, and it will be missed once it leaves. I really wish it was dethroned by something other than Ass It Was, though.
Maybe You're The Problem climbed four spots to #17, which is great to see.
Ok Why is 10 Things I Hate About You now at #13? This cannot make the top 10 next week.
On a happier note, About Damn Time is now in the top 10, climbing 7 spots to #7.
Numb Little Bug is back in the top 5. Please dethrone Ass It Was next week.
And yes, Ass It Was is #1 for a third week in a row. This can go anytime.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you next week.
First It is Harry Styles Not Harry the clown and it is As it was
