So first up, we have Bad Habit by Steve Lacy. This is better than I remembered. I think he sounds great here and the production is great. That's all I need to say.
After a few years, Fletcher is back on the countdown with Becky's So Hot. This is also fairly good, but Bitter is definitely better. I think she sounds good here and the production is fun. I'd be fine with this doing well.
(sighs) Well, our other two debuts are not good at all. First up is Victoria's Secret by Jax. After a few weeks of this on Hitbound, I've decided I don't like this. I feel as though the lyrical content gets too distracting for my taste, also, the song is in F# major, the song I'm least likely to like a song in, even though there are exceptions to that. I hope this song is out next week.
And I can't say whether it gets worse or not as I can't fully decide, as Harry Fucking Styles replaces himself this week with Music For A Sushi Restaurant. Just like the other two songs off his album Harry's House, this is really bad, simply because it's by an overrated artist. Sure, he sound fine and the production is cool, I'm just unable to like Harry Styles. I really hope this is the last single off Harry's House.
Hitbound (not including Sunday Bests)
Calvin Harris/ Charlie Puth/ Shenseea- Obsessed
Tate Mcrae- What Would You Do
DJ Khaled/ Drake/ Lil Baby- Staying Alive
Amelia Moore- Love Me Or Leave Me Alone (Debut)
Megan Thee Stallion- Her (Debut)
Mergui- Sucks To Know You
Blackbear/ The Used- Toxic Energy
Huddy- All The Things I Hate About You (Debut)
Marshmello/ Mae Muller/ Trippie Redd- American Psycho
Rosa Linn- Snap
Leah Kate- Life Sux
Dixie- Someone To Blame
Nicki Minaj- Super Freaky Girl (Debut)
James Hype/ Miggy Dela Rosa- Ferrari (Debut)
Havanna Winter- Rain Rain Go Away
Our first debut is Amelia Moore's follow up to I Feel Everything, Love Me Or Leave Me Alone. It's safe to admit I like this more than I should. She sounds better here than in I Feel Everything and the production here almost reminds me of that in Don't Let Me Let Go by Dillon Francis, Illennium, and Evan Giia, and yes, that is a compliment. Overall, great One To Watch follow-up song.
Yesterday, Megan Thee Stallion did what Drake did earlier this year and dropped a surprise dance pop album (I haven't actually listened to it yet, I'm judging just by this one song), and from it, we have a song called Her. This is pretty good, I'm really enjoying the dance pop production, and I've previously known Megan Thee Stallion is good at using the same word over and over again for the chorus, as proven by Body from a couple years ago. My one complaint is the song is kind of forgettable, though.
Up next, we have Huddy's latest, All The Things I Hate About You. I liked his song The Eulogy Of You And Me from last year, and I also liked his song Don't Freak Out with Iann Dior, Tyson Ritter, and Travis Barker from a few months later, but it was released the same day as Hit It by the Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie, and Lele Pons, so I think we know who really won. Anyways, when I saw the title to this new song, I didn't have super high expectations because of how bad Leah Kate's song of a similar title was. But... this new song is actually pretty good. Barker's production slaps here per usual and Huddy sounds super good. Also, the chorus is less annoying as he doesn't count down everything he hates about his ex unlike Leah Kate. So overall, great song.
Nicki Minaj brings us a new song today called Super Freaky Girl. This samples Super Freak by Rick James, which Vida Loca by the Black Eyed Peas, Nicky Jam, and Tyga from a couple years ago also sampled. Anyways, this is interesting. She sounds pretty good here and the use of the sample is interesting here. I still prefer some of her older music over this, but it's fine.
Lastly, we have a song that is doing fairly well on dance pop radio now making its way on to Hits 1, Ferrari by James Hype and Miggy De La Rosa. I really like this one. First off, let me just say it's no wonder they call the dude James Hype, because his production here really hypes me up. Miggy Dela Rosa also sounds really good too, although I feel like there could be a few verses here, but it's fine, this was executed better here than in Do It To It from earlier this year, which I did not like at all.
We lost Bad Decisions, Are You Entertained, and Drowsy this week. The first two are in the abyss, so hopefully they debut next week, and I'm completely fine with Drowsy going.
Blurbs:
Our exits were I Feel Everything, Ass It Was (finally), Potion, and Massive. I didn't mind I feel Everything unlike most people, but Love Me Or Leave Me Alone is better so I hope that debuts in the coming weeks. Ass It Was leaving was by far the best thing that happened this week, since it might be at the top of my worst songs of 2022 post at the end of the year. I would be sad about Potion leaving, but Obsessed is here and that song is better, and Massive was just good, there were a few better songs off that album.
Well this might be 2 Step's last week here unless it decides to pull a Stay or a Numb Little Bug.
No why did Don't You Worry fall four spots off its debut last week?
At least I Won't climbed 9 spots off its debut last week.
Even better, Running Up That Hill is back down 12 to #20 this week. Please leave next week.
I Ain't Worried and Vegas both climbed 6 spots and are almost in the top 15.
To Be Loved has already started to fade on me. So why is it at #14 again?
Devil Doesn't Bargain finally cracked the top 15 after 9 weeks. It's a good song, so I'm happy about it.
So you're probably wondering why I downgraded Left And Right to blue. So yesterday, the Sam Feldt remix of that song was released and I usually like EDM remixes more than the originals, and this is no exception. Sam Feldt's production is super catchy, and the drop is really fun. I hope Hits 1 switches to this remix.
Anyways, Supermodel fell 4 spots to #10. Hopefully, it stays in the top 10 next week.
YES!! Easy Lover got the biggest jump up 15 to #9 this week. I hope this makes the top 5 next week.
Also, Me Myself & I finally made the top 10 after a few months. That kinda took forever for 5sos standards, but I'm not at all complaining that it's here as it's a good song.
However, I am complaining about So Good also making the top 10 this week. This really doesn't need to be here.
So Late Night Toppling only lasted one week at #1, big fat woohoo.
And Sunroof overtook Late Night Toppling for the #1 spot. It's still a good song, and the fact that this dethroned not one, but TWO Harry Styles songs is amazing, especially considering no one was expecting this to be a huge hit when it first debuted Hitbound six months ago.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
Ugh. Me, dom and zestpond love do it to it
