So both of our debuts I reviewed last week. Up first we have Bigger Than Me by Louis Tomlinson, who is the least overrated One Direction member in my opinion. I've liked the majority of Louis Tomlinson's solo work, most notably Just Hold On with Steve Aoki in 2017, Back To You with Bebe Rexha from later that year, and We Made It from 2020. This new song, Bigger Than Me, is also pretty great. He sounds amazing here and the production is pretty cool, though slow in the beginning. Also, there are parts of the verses that remind me a bit of Take What You Want by Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, and Travis Scott from 2020, which is a great song. I hope this does well.
Our other debut comes from Ava Max, who will be releasing her album Diamonds & Dancefloors in 2023. This is called Million Dollar Baby, and it's really good. It sounds like a better version of Sweet But Psycho from 2019, not that that song's bad, but this is just better. I hope this does well.
Hitbound
Demi Lovato- 29
DJ Khaled/ Drake/ Lil Baby- Staying Alive (Re-entry)
Ashe- Emotional
David Guetta/ Bebe Rexha- I'm Good (Debut)
David Morris- Dutton Ranch Freestyle (Debut)
John Legend/ Saweetie- All She Wanna Do
Cheat Codes/ Russell Dickerson- I Remember
Charlie Puth- Smells Like Me (Debut)
Anees- Sun And Moon
Jvke- Golden Hour
Lewis Capaldi- Forget Me (Debut)
Havanna Winter- Rain Rain Go Away
Willow- Curious/ Furious (Debut)
Talk- Run Away To Mars
Armani White- Billie Eilish
Fletcher- Sting (Debut)
Staying Alive by DJ Khaled, Drake, and Lil Baby re-entered. Cool, although I'd like to see Juice Wrld Did on here as well.
Our first debut comes from David Guetta and Bebe Rexha on I'm Good. This is such an amazing song. It contains catchy production from David Guetta, and Bebe Rexha sounds amazing. The drop is super cool. Not to mention the song is in my happy key of Bb major and the lyrics completely scream party. I want this to be a huge hit here.
Oh boy, we have another of those songs like Jiggle Jiggle or Betty. This called Dutton Ranch Freestyle by David Morris, and yes, this is a very funny song. This has some very interesting production and David Morris has an interesting accent, and what he is rapping about combined with the production makes this a funny song. I really want this to be the next One To Watch.
Next month, Charlie Puth will drop his new album Charlie, and the latest song off that album, Smells Like Me, is here. This is tolerable. It sounds almost exactly like That's Hilarious from earlier this year. This being in F# major is not 100% what keeps it from being great, but since Light Switch and That's Hilarious were in that key, I feel like all of the album (except Left And Right) will sound exactly the same.
Here's something super unexpected: Me liking a Lewis Capaldi song. I hated Someone You Loved and Before You Go when they were popular but they both grew on me slightly after leaving the countdown. So this is really good. My main issue with Someone You Loved and Before You Go was they were too slow. But this is upbeat, not to mention he sounds better here than in those two songs. I really want this to hit #1.
Willow brings us another solo song this week after going a collab spree (she worked with MGK, Camila Cabello, and more), this is called Curious/ Furious. This is good. I like the pop punk production on this, and she sounds pretty good here. It's definitely pretty forgettable though.
Lastly, Fletcher has another new song hereafter Becky's So Hot flopped, this is called Sting. This is better than Becky's So Hot but not as good as Bitter from a couple years ago. The production fits her accent better and she sounds better here too. I'm fine with this being here.
We lost Heaven, Dead Inside, and Cross Your Mind. Other than the last one, I'm honestly fine with these going.
Blurbs:
Our exits were Break My Soul and Are You Entertained. Break My Soul is starting to fade on me, so I'm fine with that going even if it did kind of flop here. I really wish Are You Entertained had lasted a lot longer because it was really good.
Well, I don't think Calm Down should have fallen two spots to the bottom of the countdown.
I like Pink Vomit, but it makes sense that it dropped on its second week because everyone else hates it.
At least Glimpse Of Us didn't last long in the top 20 at all.
Unfortunately, another bad song, Snap, could make its way there soon.
Guess About Damn Time's historic run is definitely coming to a close.
Great seeing Hold Me Closer jump big off its debut.
World's Smallest Violin made a decent jump. I would also like to acknowledge Spyder's on point Mr Krabs impersonation he did when introducing that song.
Grand made a huge recovery. I hope this makes the top 15 next week.
All right! Super Freaky Girl is at #14! Let's Go!
Easy Lover is finally back in the top 10.
2 Be Loved is in the top 5... this didn't need to happen. Hopefully, this doesn't hit #1 here. However, Late Night Toppling needs to be dethroned ASAP. Maybe Left And Right will....?
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
