It started off normal... but then something crazy happened (Week of 9/24/2022)
Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post. This week will be the last consecutive post out on a day I have a band thing, so expect next week's post to get out on time, but not the week after that because that's UC Homecoming Day and that's a super busy day for us. Let's get on with this week, it was mostly a great week, we lost a bad song, gained a couple great songs, and there was a surprising move I was not expecting, which results in Harry the clown not being #1 this week. All right, here are the songs that left:
Alec Benjamin- Devil Doesn't Bargain (#11 last week)
Louis Tomlinson- Bigger Than Me (#29 last week)
Rosa Linn- Snap (#21 last week)
Ellie Goulding/ Big Sean- Easy Lover (#9 last week)

Countdown Extra: Tai Verdes- Two Sugars
Last Year's #1: The Kid Laroi/ Justin Bieber- Stay
#1 Two Years Ago: Ashe/ Niall Horan- Moral Of The Story
My Favorite Song Last Year: Dua Lipa- Love Again
My Favorite Song Two Years Ago: All Time Low/ Blackbear- Monsters
#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Yung Gravy/ Bbno$/ Rich Brian- Cest La Vie
Our First debut comes from Jvke, this is called Golden Hour. I liked This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like from earlier this year, but this is not as good. He sounds fine, but it's lacking production a lot. So it's decent. I wish This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like had debuted as well.
Next up, Lewis Capaldi makes his first appearance on Hits 1 in three years, this is called Forget Me. I did not like Someone You Loved or Before You Go when they were popular, even though they both slightly grew on me after their countdown runs. But this new one is really good. It's upbeat, and the production honestly reminds me of that of Obsessed by Calvin Harris, Charlie Puth, and Shenseea from earlier this year. He also sounds better here than in Someone You Loved and Before You Go. I hope this can be huge.
So it's funny. I said last week that I'm Good by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha was the latest EDM song that Hits 1 fucked over, however, I spoke a bit too soon, as it was on the last survey I did and then Bubby left a comment on my post saying it is in the abyss. Now here it is on the countdown. This is such an amazing song. David Guetta's production absolutely slaps per usual, and Bebe Rexha sounds amazing. The lyrics are super catchy as well. I hope they don't fuck this over.
Lastly, Until I Found You re-entered again. I'm surprised, but happy.

We have a lot of debuts this week. First off, 5 Seconds Of Summer released their album 5sos5 on Friday, and we get a track off it called Best Friends. This is pretty good. Luke Hemmings sounds great here and the production sounds like something coming out of a band. I feel like this will do well here.
Quinn XCII brings us another song this week, this is called Common and features Big Sean. This is good. I've always liked Quinn XCII's accent, and I think he sounds good here. And Big Sean's verse is great here, though not as good as his verse in Easy Lover by Ellie Goulding. This is another good Quinn XCII song.
Next up is Kelsea Ballerini, who had a song with the Chainsmokers a few years ago called This Feeling. Today, she brings us Heartfirst. This honestly feels like a country version of Save Your Tears by The Weeknd (as in it sounds a lot like that song) and I mean this as a compliment. She sounds amazing here too. I'd like to see this do well.
Last week, Lil Nas X released a song for Arcane League of Legends (the same series that Enemy by Imagine Dragons and JID was on the previous season for). This is such an amazing song. He sounds amazing here and it has cool production here. Although I'm questioning if that's him doing the second verse, but it's fine.
Hmm... A Sam Smith song doing super well on streaming after two days? Okay then. I'm not sure why, but it's cool. Anyways, this song is called Unholy and it features Kim Petras. It's pretty good. The production is pretty interesting. Sam Smith and Kim Petras sound good. I still can't see why it's likely going to debut at #1 on the hot 100 though.
Up next, the band Beach Weather is here and they have a super inappropriately titled song called Sex, Drugs, Etc. This is fine. The dude sounds fine and so does the production, but it's weird as a whole. I'm not sure where they found this.
Omar Apollo makes his first appearance on Hits 1 with Evergreen. This is... decent, I guess. He sounds fine, but it's a little bit slow. That's all I need to say about it.
Up next is Mike Posner, who I have great history with. I Took A Pill In Ibiza (as in Seeb's remix, of course) was my favorite song of 2016 and Cooler Than Me from 2010 was also great. Today, he brings us I'm Not Dead Yet. This is great, although not as good as I Took A Pill In Ibiza or even Cooler Than Me. Mike Posner has an interesting accent and it goes well with this production. Yeah, I hope this is a hit.
(sighs) So Hits 1 picked up on Rain Rain Go Away by Havanna Winter a few weeks ago, and I got tired of it after a few weeks. And... Hits 1 replaced it with another song from her called Heaven To Me. This is not good at all. It's extermely slow and she doesn't have an accent that is interesting enough to make the song better. Hits 1, please never pick up her music again.
We lost Curious/ Furious, Run Away To Mars, Smells Like Me, Sting, Fmk, Rain Rain Go Away (because of her other not good song debuting), Sun And Moon, and Dutton Ranch Freestyle. Aside from those last two, I'm fine with all of those going. But seriously, both Anees and David Morris deserve to be the One To Watch so much more than Havanna Winter, in case Hits 1 gives her the One To Watch status in the coming weeks.
Blurbs
Our Exits were Devil Doesn't Bargain, Bigger Than Me, Snap, and Easy Lover. Neither Devil Doesn't Bargain nor Easy Lover should have left from that high up, and Bigger Than Me underperformed hard for a One Direction song, and in this case, I don't mean that as a compliment. Snap, meanwhile, was not good, so I'm glad that's gone.
Glimpse Of Us seriously needs to leave ASAP.
Oof on Bad Habit falling. This nearly faded on me earlier this week after numerous people in the discord were changing their usernames to anything Bad Habit themed. But it didn't, so the song should rebound next week.
Ayy Make You Say is in the top 20 now.
You should have seen my reaction while I was listening to the countdown and I found out Late Night Toppling fell all the way from #1 to #15.
And then both Betty and Hold Me Closer jumped eight spots into the top 15. Of course I'm happy about both songs jumping, but they got completely overshadowed by LNT's unexpected but completely deserved fall.
I swear to God, Victoria's Secret and So Good (or as I saw some people in the Discord calling it and what I will be calling it from now on, So Boring) need to stop climbing.
On the topic of bad songs, Harry Styles came dangerously close to replacing himself with Music For A Sushi Restaurant. At least Waffle agrees with me that this one is bad.
Oh, and I Ain't Worried and I Like You are in the top 5 now, so that's good.
And our new #1 is Left And Right by Charlie Puth and Jungkook. I'm super happy that this is #1 here, as it's a great song that's by someone that isn't Harry Fucking Styles for once. Super random fact, but this happens to be the first time anyone from BTS has hit #1 on the countdown.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week (on Saturday, because the band isn't doing anything that day).
