Wow this could get ridiculous quick (Week of 9/4/2022)

Hello everyone, welcome back to another post. Sorry this is late, I got distracted doing other things like watching football, and I was getting sidetracked. My next three posts will likely be out somewhat late as well as I will be playing at UC football games with the marching band, so I will most likely get my posts out at midnight at the earliest then. This week was not that great, as we lost some great songs, a few entrants were questionable, there were unnecessary jumps and drops, and Harry the clown is once again #1. Okay, let's review the songs that left this week:

Shawn Mendes- When You're Gone (#11 last week)

Up first is Tiny Dancer by Elton John and Britney Spears. I'm not too familiar with Elton John's older music, but I liked Cold Heart from last year, although his song with Lil Nas X was really underwhelming. I think he is doing something similar to Cold Heart here on Hold Me Closer, as this interpolates his song Tiny Dancer, and Trey said this also interpolates Rocket Man, I don't exactly see how, though. These interpolations are executed pretty well, and he and Britney Spears both sound good here. I hope this can be a huge hit like Cold Heart was

Something I'm not hoping is a huge hit is Snap by Rosa Linn. After more times of listening to this, I've decided this isn't good at all. The The production feels overly weird, and Rosa Linn saying "Snapping one two" along to it doesn't feel right. Also, the message feels way too off from what I was expecting. I hope this flops.

Our next debut is so much better, Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez. This is really good. He sounds really good, and so does Selena Gomez, although I'm not really loving when she does the chorus. I hope this does well.

I'm really confused. AJR put out I Won't one month ago, but after that, a track off their album OK Orchestra called World's Smallest Violin blew up on Tiktok and is getting serviced instead of I Won't. Don't get me wrong, this is a great song. It reminds me of Sober Up from 2018 a little bit. I really like the drop with the violins in this, these violins make the song entirely appropriate for an album called OK Orchestra. But should this be blowing up causing their most recent song to not be serviced? No.

Man, this last one is going to be super fun to talk about. It's Pink Venom by Blackpink, or as people in the discord started calling it, Pink Vomit, which is what I will be calling it from now on. But I don't hate this at all, let alone as much as Trey and Hrishk. This is super fun, the production is catchy and reminds me of Best Friend by Saweetie and Doja Cat or early DJ Snake material. Also, all four of them sound great here. Let's see how this does.

Hitbound (not including Sunday Bests)
Demi Lovato- 29
John Legend/ Saweetie- All She Wanna Do (Debut)
Ashe- Emotional
Ava Max- Million Dollar Baby (Debut)
Bazzi- Heaven
Cheat Codes/ Russell Dickerson- I Remember
Louis Tomlinson- Bigger Than Me (Debut)
Anees- Sun And Moon
Jvke- Golden Hour (Debut)
Blackbear- Dead Inside
Havanna Winter- Rain Rain Go Away
Talk- Run Away To Mars
Armani White- Billie Eilish (Debut)
Role Model- Cross Your Mind

Our first debut comes from John Legend and Saweetie, this is called All She Wanna Do. This is pretty good. I think they both deliver here, and Saweetie's verse slays per usual, like in Hit It and Baby Boo. My main issue is the unnecessary key change at the end, but it's nothing too worth screaming about.

Ava Max will be releasing her album Diamonds & Dancefloors sometime in 2023, and we get a song from that album today called Million Dollar Baby. I generally have a good track record with Ava Max's music, the only song of hers I was never sold on was Kings & Queens from 2020. As for this new song, it's pretty good. It essentially sounds like a better version of Sweet But Psycho from 2019, and that's a compliment. I want this to do well here.

In my opinion, Louis Tomlinson is by far the least overrated member of One Direction. In my opinion, Harry Styles is the most overrated, then Niall Horan, then Zayn, then Liam Payne, then Louis Tomlinson as the least overrated. I've liked the majority of his solo work, most notably Just Hold On with Steve Aoki from 2017, Back To You with Bebe Rexha from later that year, and We Made It from 2020.  All great songs. Today he brings us Bigger Than Me. This is also pretty great. Louis Tomlinson sounds amazing here and the production is cool, though slow at the beginning. Also, there are a few parts of the verses that remind me of Take What You Want by Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, and Travis Scott from 2020, which is a great song. Since this is from a One Direction member, I have no doubts this will do well here.

Well, I think we remember Jvke from This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like from earlier this year, in which I was the only one who liked. Today, he brings us Golden Hour, and this is not as good as TIWFILFL at all. He sounds good here, but I feel like there could be more in the production, like a drumbeat. I could also do without the piano solo at the end too. I hope this can somehow grow on me though.

Lastly, this is going to be very fun to talk about, this is Billie Eilish by Armani White. It's another of those songs like Jiggle Jiggle by Duke & Jones and Louis Theroux and Betty by Yung Gravy. So it's him rapping weird lyrics over catchy production, not to mention he has an interesting accent. I want this to do well.

We lost Come Back Home, Maniac, Last Last, and All The Things I Hate About You. The first two are in the abyss and I was not entirely expecting the other two to debut even if I liked them.

Blurbs
Our exits were Don't You Worry, When You're Gone, Until I Found You, Becky's So Hot, and I Won't. Don't You Worry got robbed and should have lasted a lot longer and peaked a lot higher. When You're Gone lasted a bit too long, although I'm happy it outlasted Ass It Was, which it debuted the same week as. Until I Found You also could have lasted a bit longer, but it's fine. I'm surprised Becky's So Hot is already out, but it's not that great, so I'm fine with that going. Lastly, I Won't, which came out last month, got replaced by another AJR song from last year. It's just too weird how Tiktok works like that.

Oof. Grand took a big hit after its high debut last week. I hope it rebounds.

Are You Entertained jumped four spots, although I don't see it lasting, as people in the discord have said it isn't on the survey.

Bad Habit, Super Freaky Girl, and Betty all made big jumps, yay for all of them.

Break My Soul made a slight rebound. I hope this makes top 15 again.

Don't Let The Lights Go Out is in the top 20 as well. Ok cool.

Ok why the fuck is Glimpse Of Us at #17? This should not be here, no one likes that song except for Mikey Piff's mom.

I also want So Good to leave Asap.

Literally nothing entered the top 10, the only movement was Maybe You're The Problem falling four spots and what were 10 through 7 last week climbing one spot. No movement at all in the top 5, Late Night Toppling needs to not be #1 anymore.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
