Tiesto/ Black Eyed Peas- Pump It Louder
Acraze/ Goodboys- Believe
Walker Hayes/ Flo Rida- High Heels
First up we have Evergreen by Omar Apollo at #30. I want to like this more, but it is a bit slow for me even though the melodies are amazing and Omar Apollo has a great accent. Also, it is in a key that I am almost guaranteed to like a song in, A Major. We shall see how this does.
Second, All Time Low is back on the countdown for the first time since they were accused of sexual assault about a year ago. This song is called Sleepwalking, and it's pretty good. The production is amazing (though somewhat different to something like Some Kind Of Disaster, Monsters, or Once In A Lifetime) and Alex Gaskarth has an amazing accent per usual. I hope this does well here.

Best Friends by 5sos re-entered. All right, then. Good to see it back.
(sighs) So Ashe, or as we are now calling her on the discord, Asse, dropped a new album yesterday, and of course Hits 1 picked up on a random track off it called Omw. Honestly, this is the most normal sounding song I've heard from this album so far. This is good, but I'm not sure it's as good as Emotional from last month. She sounds like she is actually singing here, and this has some cool production. I'm cool with this being here, but I think we need a break from Asse on here.
On the topic of One to watch alums Hits 1 doesn't know how to stop picking up on, Leah Kate has a new song on here called Hot all the time. What she has been putting out since 10 Things I Hate About You (in case you are new here, I did not like that song at all) has been pretty good for the most part, and this is no exception. It's not another diss track on her ex, in fact, the lyrical content is more positive than that of her previous songs, at least from what I can put together. Also, this has cool production. I'm totally fine with this being here.
And now for the big one. Earlier this week, Blink 182 reunited with guitarist and secondary vocalist Tom Delonge, who left the group long ago but is now back in the group, although they had a Hitbound dropout a couple years ago with the Chainsmokers called PS I Hope You're Happy that I really liked. After the reunion with Delonge, they put out their comeback single Edging yesterday, and now it's actually on Hits 1. This is nothing short of amazing. The production here is absolutely amazing courtesy of everyone in the group, and both Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge sound amazing on this. I can't stress enough how much I want this to be a huge hit.
And lastly, Hits 1 picked up on a new Sabrina Carpenter song, simply because she put out a response to Drivers License (that's the only logical reason I can think of for Hits 1 continuing to pick up her music). This song is called Nonsense, and it's actually pretty good. I think this has interesting production, almost trap type in my opinion. I also think Sabrina Carpenter sounds good here, but unlike Zestpond, I don't think she sounds like Ariana Grande here, I'd say she sounds more like Avril Lavigne or Zara Larsson here instead. I don't necessarily see this debuting because irrelevant follow up songs rarely debut these days.
We lost Heartfirst, Cuff It, and Jimmy Cooks. It really would have been cool to see Heartfirst debut, and the other two are in the abyss, so I hope Jimmy Cooks debuts next week, and I'd be fine if Cuff It stayed in the abyss.
Blurbs
Our exits were Sunroof and Maybe You're The Problem. These were great songs that had great runs here, but I don't think Sunroof should have left from that high up.
Is Calm Down ever going to do anything on here?
I think you know what I'm going to say on Glimpse of Us.
So this is likely the last week of About Damn Time's historic run here, as it got one final drop to #26.
Late Night Toppling also got one final drop down to #22. Good fucking riddance, unlike ADT, this did not deserve the success it got.
Unholy got a great boost off its debut from last week into the top 20. Great to see.
Make You Say is also back in the top 20, I'm fine with this here, but it is starting to fade on me slightly.
Vegas fell back to #16. I'm fine with this since I don't find it as good as it was when it first debuted.
Ayy, Star Walkin is now in the top 15! I hope this breaks the top 10 next week.
Forget me has now cracked the top 10. No surprise, as Hits 1 likes Lewis Capaldi. I'd complain about this more if the song wasn't upbeat like it is.
I hope I Ain't Worried hits #1 next week over Victoria's Secret, 2 Be Loved, and especially Music For A Sushi Restaurant.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
Wait how do you know Jimmy Cooks is in the abyss?
ReplyDeleteit was in the survey
DeleteOkay nice. Drake songs hardly ever not debut here
DeleteNice
ReplyDeleteNice to see Jimmy Cooks getting a spin.
ReplyDeleteHeartbeat and celestial were great, INDY, mistakes, monster and TS were good but not that memorable so I don't care that they are gone. Nice to see BF re-enter hitbound
ReplyDeleteCuff it, jimmy cooks and heartfirst will all be missed
