UC Homecoming Edition (Week of 10/8/2022)
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another countdown post. Yeah I said this was going to be late this week due to UC Homecoming things with the band. This week was pretty interesting. We had some great debuts and jumps, although I'm not loving the top 5 right now. Let's look at the songs that left this week:

Alok/ Sigala/ Ellie Goulding- All By Myself

Walker Hayes/ Flo Rida- High Heels
Alejo/ Nio Garcia/ Juanka- La Pelikula
Yeah I kind of saw this first song debuting, it's Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. I really like this one. It sounds really interesting, almost like the Spider Pig song from The Simpsons Movie (If you know what I'm talking about, you know). This is much more upbeat that most of Sam Smith's earlier songs, and Kim Petras does a great job too. I'd like to see this do well here, although I'm not sure why it's been at the top of the streaming charts during the entire time it's been out.
Tate Mcrae finally brings another song on to the countdown after What Would You Do and Don't Come Back dropped out of Hitbound over the summer. This song is called Uh Oh and it feels like a reggaeton song almost, and I mean this as a compliment. This might be the best thing I've heard from her except for You with Regard from last year. I hope this is a hit.
Hitbound
DJ Khaled/ Drake/ Lil Baby- Staying Alive
All Time Low- Sleepwalking (Debut)
Havanna Winter- Heaven To Me
Beyonce- Cuff It (Debut)
Drake/ 21 Savage- Jimmy Cooks (Debut)
Beach Weather- Sex, Drugs, Etc
Charlie Puth- Charlie Be Quiet (Debut)
Maneskin- The Lonliest (Debut)
Kelsea Ballerini- Heartfirst
Willow- Curious/ Furious (Re-entry)
Charlie On A Friday- Enough (Debut)
Cheat Codes/ Russell Dickerson- I Remember
Quinn XCII/ Big Sean- Common
Gayle/ Blackbear- Fmk (Re-entry)
Omar Apollo- Evergreen
Aidan Bissett- Tripping Over Air
First, Curious/ Furious by Willow and Fmk by Gayle and Blackbear both re-entered. The first one honestly makes sense since Willow is the musical guest on SNL this weekend, and I don't really know why Fmk is back, but it's fine.
Well... I guess Hits 1 picks up on songs from controversial artists one year after the controversies arise. That happened with Wasted On You by Morgan Wallen earlier this year, and now All Time Low, who I previously mentioned were accused of sexual assault about a year ago, have a song on Hitbound after Hits 1 skipped Jenny I'm Sorry with Masked Wolf a couple months ago. This song is called Sleepwalking, and it's really good. It feels different than something like Some Kind Of Disaster, Monsters, or Once In A Lifetime, but slightly similar. Alex Gaskarth has a great accent and the production is fun. I'd like to see it do well.
We have another song off Beyonce's album Renaissance on Hitbound called Cuff it. This is... not what I was expecting from her. It feels a bit generic for a Beyonce song and it feels a bit long for what it is. Maybe we don't need this to do well.
Earlier this year, Drake surprise dropped an EDM album called Honestly Nevermind. Well, there was one rap song on that album, and it was this next debut, Jimmy Cooks with 21 Savage. This is really good. Both of them do well here and the production is super catchy even though it's not EDM. I want this to be a hit, but I also want Drake to stick to rap in his next album so he doesn't completely obliterate the dance charts, but if an EDM producer gets Drake and 21 Savage on a song, I'd be cool with that.
We have a new Charlie Puth song on Hitbound this week called Charlie Be Quiet. This is really good. The production reminds me of that of Are You Entertained by Russ and Ed Sheeran from a couple months ago, and that's a good thing. Charlie Puth also does well here. I hope this is huge.
We have a new Maneskin song on Hitbound called The Loneliest. Beggin, I Wanna Be Your Slave, Mammamia, and Supermodel were so full of energy and were extremely upbeat, and that's why I liked them as much as I did. This new song is not that, it's really slow, nothing I was expecting from them. It's not even in a key that would make me find this song great, but Damiano David still sounds great here and the melodies are solid. So the song is decent. I hope their next song is more upbeat like their previous songs.
And lastly... we have discount Post Malone. This dude named Charlie On A Friday now has a song on here called Enough. This is honestly pretty interesting. He sounds a lot like Post Malone, and the whole song sounds like Wrapped Around Your Finger. Still not sure why the want that song to be huge, but it's all good.
We lost Heartbeat, Mistakes, Two Sugars, Monster, Best Friends, I'm Not Dead Yet, and Celestial. Heartbeat was the extra this week, so I'm sure it's in the abyss. Mistakes and Two Sugars were not that great, so I'm fine with those going. I forgot what Monster, Best Friends, and I'm Not Dead Yet sound like although I remember them being good. Meanwhile, I'm confused about Celestial going. It's Ed Sheeran, who had a song that was #1 for 14 weeks and nine more #1s in Weekend Countdown history, so it makes no sense that what is one of his better songs spent only one week on Hitbound without even getting a chance to debut.
Blurbs
Our exits were Bones and Million Dollar Baby. Bones lasted way too long on here, so I'm fine with that going. Meanwhile I'm confused about Million Dollar Baby going as it jumped 12 spots last week and her older song is still on here and it fell a couple spots last week.
Is Calm Down ever going to stop pulling a Holding On?
Glimpse of Us likely took its final huge drop before it is hopefully gone next week.
Wooh! Star Walkin Jumped a few spots off its debut last week!
Are Maybe You're The Problem and About Damn Time ever going to leave? I know! No, because Jackie Reed is the countdown producer and we can't have old songs leave when she's in charge.
Late Night Toppling also needs to get the fuck out of here.
Nice! I'm Good is now in the top 15. Thanks for recognizing that this is a hit Hits 1.
World's Smallest Violin is also in the top 15 now. Also great.
Don't Let The Light Go Out is now officially behaving like a Panic At The Disco song.
When will So Boring drop hard?
(sighs) Victorias Secret is in the top 5 now... this really didn't need to happen. I hope this doesn't dethrone Left And Right next week, though not as much as I hope Music For A Sushi Restaurant doesn't hit #1 of course.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
