More questionable week ft. Simply The Best rant (Week of 11/5/2022)

Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post. If you didn't see my review on Her Loss by Drake and 21 Savage, be sure to check that out. My Favorite Song Last Year: Drake/ Future/ Young Thug- Way 2 Sexy
#1 Recommendation for Hits 1 Off Her Loss: Drake/ 21 Savage- Spin Bout U
#1 Recommendation for Hits 1 From Elsewhere: Jason Derulo/ Shouse- Never Let You Go

Ok this first song actually debuted after some time in the abyss, it's Billie Eilish by Armani White. It's one of those songs like Jiggle Jiggle by Duke & Jones and Louis Theroux or Betty by Yung Gravy, that's supposed to be a compliment here. Armani White does a great job here and this has cool production. I'd like this to be a hit.

Meghan Trainor is back on the countdown for the first time since With You with Kaskade from Kx5 in late 2019. This song is called Made You Look, and it's pretty good. It gives off the vibe of from what she was putting out in 2014-2015 and she sounds great here. I hope this is a memorable comeback for her.

Annddd... our last debut isn't as good as the previous two. It's Rihanna's new song Lift Me Up from the new Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie. I want to like this more, but it's way too slow for me to fully enjoy, although the production sort of evolves throughout. Honestly, I'm glad this was not a top 15 debut even though she hasn't been seen in 6 years.

Hitbound (Not including Sunday Bests)
Havanna Winter- Hollywood Forever (Debut)
Pink- Never Gonna Not Dance Again (Debut)
Cheat Codes/ Russell Dickerson- I Remember
Charli D'Amelio- If You Ask Me To
Tiesto/ Tate Mcrae- 10:35 (Debut)
Avery Anna- Narcissist
Avril Lavigne/ Yungblud- I'm A Mess (Debut)
Regard/ Drop G- No Love For You (Debut)
Selena Gomez- My Mind & Me (Debut)
Benson Boone- Before You
Quinn XCII/ Big Sean- Common
Sabrina Carpenter- Nonsense
Joji- Die For You (Debut)
Bailey Zimmerman- Rock And A Hard Place (Debut)
Becky Hill/ David Guetta- Remember

Oh come the fuck on. Hits 1 picked up on Rain Rain Go Away by Havanna Winter which spent a bit too long in Hitbound, then it got replaced by Heaven To Me, which was pretty bad, and that stayed until this week, only for it to be replaced by yet ANOTHER new song from her called Hollywood Forever. Actually... this is quite good. It's more upbeat than the other songs she had on here, but since it's her, I have to give this a blue ranking. For Hits 1, I'd say to stop picking up her songs because of her other annoying songs on here.

Next up, Pink is back on Hits 1 for the first time in three years. This song is called Never Stop Dancing, and I like this one a bit. I think she sounds great here and the production is super cool, almost sounding like something coming out of the Caribbean. It's also in Bb major, and you know I like songs in that key that aren't by Harry Styles or Taylor Swift. I'd like this to be huge here.

We have a pretty interesting collaboration up next. Last week, Tiesto the rapper announced a new album called Drive coming in March 2023 (that's when I heard it was out), and the newest single off that album is Drive with Tate Mcrae. I like this one a bit. Tiesto's production is super cool per usual, and Tate Mcrae sounds amazing along to it. Please don't fuck this one over Hits 1.

Honestly, this next collaboration makes a bit of sense, it's Avril Lavigne and Yungblud on I'm A Mess. I wanted to like this more, but the production isn't as pop punk as I was expecting until the end of the song. If it was like this for the whole song, I would like it more. The good news is that both Avril Lavigne and Yungblud sound great on this. I want this to grow on me a bit.

Regard has finally brought another song to Hits 1. In my opinion, he is one of the most unique EDM producers, and I mean that as a good thing. I really liked Ride It, You, with Troye Sivan and Tate Mcrae, Signals with Kwabs, Hallucination with Years & Years, and his remix of Better Days by Neiked, Mae Muller, and Polo G. Today, he brings us No Love For You with another DJ named Drop G. Wow, this is really good. It reminds me of The Business by Tiesto from last year, as in it has Regard rapping in his regular voice. He sounds really good (honestly like Tiesto) and the production from him and Drop G is fun. Also, like all of his songs I've heard from him except for Hallucination, we get a normal Regard type drop, and I always like Regard's signature drops. Great job Regard, you did it again.

Unfortunately, compared to that song, this next song from Selena Gomez isn't really that great. It's really slow but in a tolerable key for me, it's A Major here. The production here definitely evolves throughout unlike Lift Me Up by Rihanna. I'm fine with this doing well for now.

This is a joke, right? Hits 1 picked up on Joji's follow up to Glimpse Of Us, Die For You? Honestly, it's not as bad as Glimpse Of Us. It's still pretty slow but at least there's a beat to it this time. That's honestly where my compliments end. I just want him to start making more upbeat music after this.

Lastly, we have country artist Bailey Zimmerman with his song Rock And A Hard Place. This is kind of good. He sounds like a cross between Billy Ray Cyrus and Morgan Wallen. The production is interesting but more country than what I've heard from Morgan Wallen, Walker Hayes, or Kane Brown during this year. This could grow on me more, who knows?

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW, HITS 1? WHY THE ACTUAL FUCKING FUCK IS SIMPLY THE BEST BY THE BLACK EYED PEAS, ANITTA, AND EL ALFA OUT OF HITBOUND AFTER ONLY ONE FUCKING WEEK? Seriously. I don't fucking understand Hits 1's or even Mediab-ass' bullshit with the Black Eyed Peas these days. Back in 2009, these guys spent a combined total of 26 weeks atop the hot 100, and those two songs most likely hit #1 on Hits 1 as well. They have a new album called Elevation that comes out next week, and I swear to god, I would actually fly my ass to New York and make those fucking fuckos named Mikey and Jackie listen to that album so they will be forced to let the next single off it on to the countdown, because even though the album isn't out yet, I can already smell that the album will be perfect and will deserve infinitely more attention than fucking Midnights by Taylor Fucking Swift, that bullshit doesn't deserve the entire top 10 of the hot fucking 100. Hits 1, please let the Black Eyed Peas have huge hits again instead of using every fucking song they put out these days as chart filler. And this one dropping out of Hitbound drives me mad because it legit might be the best song I've ever heard, and for really good reason, another reason why this shouldn't have dropped out is because of all the unnecessary bullshit that is on there, for example, the Charli Fucking D'Amelio song is still on there. SERIOUSLY! NO ONE GIVES TWO SHITS ABOUT ANYONE WITH THAT LAST NAME! ALSO, MADE YOU LOOK BY MEGHAN TRAINOR PULLED A FUCKING SUNDAY BEST! Look, that's a great song, but it always annoys me whenever a song is on the countdown and Hitbound at the same time, at this point, I don't know the fucking purpose of Hitbound anymore. Also, I just thought of this one, WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GET RID OF SIMPLY THE BEST INSTEAD OF NARCISSIST EVEN THOUGH THAT SONG SUCKS AND NO ONE EVEN KNOWS WHO THE FUCK AVERY ANNA EVEN IS? Also, they added another boring ass Joji song even though NO ONE FUCKING CARES! Now if I need to sign up for a fucking Tiktok account and create a cool dance to this that will go viral, I gladly will if it means I can make this song mean something to Hits 1, mediab-ass, and Billboard. For fuck's sake, do better next time Hits 1, and start taking into account the types of music Trey, Zestpond, HrishK, and I like. Goodbye incredible song, you will forever be missed, and I'm 100% giving my LOP award to this song at the end of the year. Ok, rant over.

Aside from Simply The Best, we lost Dumb Dumb, Heaven To Me, 100 Degrees, WDIA, Bad Idea, and Love About It. I would have liked to see those last three on the countdown, but it's fine compared to Simply The Best not getting a shot. And the first three I don't care about at all.

Blurbs
Thankfully, the songs that left the countdown I'm completely fine with going, they were Wrapped Around Your Finger, Don't Let The Light Go Out, and Evergreen. I hope after this, they realize Wrapped Around Your Finger isn't going to be that huge.

Why did Calm Down fall back into the bottom 5?

So Boring and Late Night Toppling need to get the fuck out of here. I'm especially pissed that the latter jumped five spots.

Just stop trying to make Snap a thing, WDIA deserved a lot better than this.

Looks like Numb and Left And Right are both on their way out. Not complaining.

Yeah, we didn't need Cuff It in the top 20, but we needed Anti Hero in the top 20 even less.

At least Bad Habit is almost in the top 10.

So is World's Smallest Violin.

Not a lot happened in the top 10, #4 and up all held their respective spots from last week, even 2 Be Loved At #1. I'm glad it held off Music For A Sushi Restaurant once again, but I'm Good needs to hit #1 next week.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
