My Review on the new Black Eyed Peas album

Hello everyone, today I will be reviewing the new Black Eyed Peas album Elevation. Let's get into it.
So one of the few good things that happened in 2020 was the Black Eyed Peas' album Translation, which was a really great album. I'm probably the only one in the community who actively likes reggaeton, and that was what they were experimenting with on Translation given the features. This album is supposed to be a sequel to that album, as it also features big name reggaeton artists, also, one of the songs off it might be the best song I've ever heard. This post will be similar to my other two album reviews, except my 6/5 incredible tier will be brought out at least once. Here we go.

1. Simply The Best (with Anitta & El Alfa)

So if you read my Hits 1 post two weeks ago, you know that this is more than just great in my opinion. This has amazing production and everyone slays on their verse. This album is already off to an amazing start.
Ranking: Incredible

2. Muevelo (with Anuel)

H o l y C r a p. We are following this up with another purely amazing song. So Anuel did not appear on Translation, but here he is on this track. Honestly, this sounds a lot like Simply the best but in a different key. This has catchy production, and Anuel, Will.i.am, Apl De Ap, and Taboo all do amazing verses here. I hope this is a single.
Ranking: Incredible

3. Audios

Now this one doesn't feature anyone else, but it's fine. This is also really great. It feels more like 2009-2011 BEP, specifically Don't Stop The Party, and I mean this as a compliment. Again, amazing production and all three of them do amazing, Will.i.am's hook is super catchy. Great song.
Ranking: Great

4. Double D'z

I'm not going to Credit J Rey Soul here since she is in the group (she replaced Fergie in 2018). This is fine. It's mostly J Rey Soul on this with one verse from Will.i.am and no verses from Apl De Ap or Taboo. As for the song, it's like a less great version of My Humps from 2004. Also, 30 seconds from the end, the production switches up a bit, they previously did this with Just Can't Get Enough in 2011, and I feel like that was executed better there than here. Apparently, this is the single? You guys have so many better options...
Ranking: Good

5. Bailar Contigo (with Daddy Yankee)

So this next song is Daddy Yankee's last song ever as he is retiring after his current tour. He also dropped his last album Legendaddy back in March, and now Bailar Contigo is on this album. Okay, this is also an amazing song. I'm not sure what this samples, but I like it. This has amazing production and they all sound amazing, even though none of the BEP guys come in until 1:30 in to the song. Great final Daddy Yankee song.
Ranking: Great

6. Get Down (with Nicky Jam)

We have another BEP/ Nicky Jam collab on here, they previously collaborated on Vida Loca, which also featured Tyga. Vida Loca was one of my favorite Translation tracks, and this is also an amazing song. They all deliver here, and the production is once again nothing short of amazing. I want this to be a hit.
Ranking: Great

7. Dance 4 U

This one is kind of cool. The production sounds like the work of Imanbek, who I really enjoy the production style of. J Rey Soul's hook is a lot better than that of Double D'z. Also, all three of them have verses, which is a good thing.
Ranking: Great.

8. Guarantee

Okay then. This sounds a bit like Meet Me Halfway from 2009. J Rey Soul did the hook again, and we have good verses from Will.i.am and Apl De Ap, none from Taboo here except at the end. It's good, but overall, it could be better.
Ranking: Good

9. Filipina Queen

I'm confused. When the track listing was revealed two weeks ago, it had Bella Poarch as a featured artist on this song, now J Rey Soul is credited. Okay so, I think this is the first BEP song I've heard without Will.i.am on it. It's just Apl De Ap and J Rey Soul on here. Not a major complaint as they both sound great and the production reminds me of Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez.
Ranking: Great

10. Jump

After that interlude, now it's just Will.i.am on here, plus some weird speaking voice. He does really well here and this has interesting production.
Ranking: Great

11. In The Air

Now Taboo gets his time to shine, and this also has a sample from an old Black Eyed Peas song with Fergie, judging, likely Boom Boom Pow.  Taboo does well, and it has cool production, it's kind of forgettable tho.
Ranking: Good

12. Fire Starter

This has a cool house beat here. Their verses are super cool and the hook is kind of catchy.
Ranking: Great

13. No One Loves Me (with Nicole Scherzinger)

BEP lyrics never make sense, as is the case with Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling. But on this, Nicole Scherzinger's hook is similar to that of Love Again, and the lyrics are like regular BEP love songs.
Ranking: Great

14. Don't You Worry (with Shakira and David Guetta)

I've already gone over this one a couple times in Hits 1 posts, but if you are new here, let me recap: This is an amazing song. David Guetta's production absolutely slaps and everyone sounds amazing here. This will most likely make my apple music replay rankdown out at the end of the year.
Ranking: Great

15. Love (with Ozuna)

For the final track, we have another Ozuna collab after Mamacita, called Love. Essentially, this a modernized version of their breakthrough hit Where Is The Love from 2003. It has more reggaeton production than the other songs. They all sound great here as well.
Ranking: Great

Wow. Overall, that was a great album to listen to, just as I predicted it would be. Those first two tracks especially. Those middle tracks aren't anything I'm really going to revisit, but definitely everything with a reggaeton artist. I'd say it was definitely worth the wait overall. See you guys tomorrow for my countdown post.
