Glad to get exams done... but Taylor is still #1 (Week of 12/10/2022)
Hello everyone, welcome back to another post. I had final exams this week and it feels good to get those done. I have a couple announcements, first, we still only have one submission for my rankdown, I would really encourage you to submit if able. Second, my post next week will be out two days late as I am traveling with the UC band to Boston, we will be playing at the Fenway bowl there. I get back Sunday evening really late, and the next day I will be able to work on my post will be the following Monday. All right. Let's get into this countdown that, aside from the #1, was pretty interesting. Here are the songs that left this week:
Elton John/ Britney Spears- Hold Me Closer (#14 last week)

First up is It's Been So Long by K Flay, and this is apparently the next One To Watch... Great. Yeah, as you can tell, this has already gotten pretty annoying for me. The chorus is fairly repetitive and it has some weird production, plus, the key change at the end makes no sense. I hope this doesn't stick around after being the 1TW.
On a somewhat better note, Fmk by Gayle and Blackbear debuted this week. This is good but not great. They both sound great and it has somewhat cool production, but that production is somewhat slower than a normal song out of one of these two artists. It's cool though, I'm fine with this being here.
Evergreen by Omar Apollo re-entered. Cool.
Lastly, after a few weeks on Hitbound, Nonsense by SabCarp is on the countdown. This is kind of fun. She sounds great and it has cool production. My one complaint is that, remember when this debuted HB the same week as Edging by Blink 182? That should have been pushed on the countdown as well.
Hitbound
Lizzo- Special
Martin Garrix/ Jvke- Hero (Debut)
Isabel Larosa- I'm Yours
Metro Boomin/ The Weeknd/ 21 Savage- Creepin (Debut)
Sza- Shirt (Debut)
Ava Max- Weapons
Lewis Capaldi- Pointless
Lila Drew- Used To
Becky Hill/ David Guetta- Remember
Alec Benjamin- Paper Crown
Jungkook- Dreamers
Regard/ Drop G- No Love For You
Raye/ 070 Shake- Escapism (Debut)
Jordi- Hate You
Nicki Minaj/ Maluma/ Myriam Fares- Tukoh Taka
Joji- Die For You
We have some interesting debuts this week. First up is Hero by Martin Garrix and Jvke. Fun fact: This is actually not Jvke's first EDM song, he previously collaborated with Galantis on Dandelion. As for this one, it's really good. I like Martin Garrix's production here, not to mention this has an interesting drop, and Jvke sounds pretty good. I hope they don't fuck this one over.
Continuing the great debuts, next up they picked up on one of my recommendations from last week, Creepin by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage, off Metro Boomin's new album Heroes & Villains. This is such a great song. I like the darker production from Metro Boomin and that goes super well with The Weeknd's accent here. My favorite part might be 21 Savage's verse, and this might be one of my favorite 21 Savage guest verses ever, it goes super well with the production. I heard this was on the survey, so I have confidence that this will debut the countdown next week.
Yesterday, Sza released her new album SOS, and Hits 1 picked up on the actual single off it that was released last month, Shirt, which she performed on SNL last week. This is kind of good. She sounds pretty good and I kind of like the production, the song reminds me of Need To Know by Doja Cat from last year in a way, and I would call that better than this.
Lastly, we have Raye making her first appearance on Hits 1. She has collaborated with various EDM producers, such as You Don't Know Me with Jax Jones, Bed with Joel Corry and David Guetta, and Secrets with Regard, and I remember that last one for Waffle deeming it "Ride It Part 2" although I never heard it before. Today, she brings us Escapism with 070 Shake, who I only remember from Lifetime by Swedish House Mafia, which also featured Ty Dolla Sign. This new song is kind of good. This has good production (though not house), but it still goes well with her accent and 070 Shake does a great verse. I'm totally fine with this on here.
We lost Paralyzed and These Nights. I liked both of these and they will be greatly missed. Can we please stop fucking over great EDM songs Hits 1?
Blurbs
Our exits were Hold Me Closer, Until I Found You, Bad Habit, and The Loneliest. That last one should have stayed on for a lot longer, it was growing on me a bit. Until I Found You's run was getting extremely weird, now it's gone, I'm fine with this, it was fading on me a bit. I wish Hold Me Closer was as big as Cold Heart was, but I'm glad it did somewhat well. Lastly, Bad Habit had a great run on here, and while I personally liked it, I know *cough cough* someone who will be happy about it leaving.
Jeez, why did Sex Drugs Etc jump five spots? Please leave next week.
I guess Left And Right and I Like You will be gone next week, I'd be fine with that as they are getting kind of old.
Snap fell 11 spots after entering the top 10. Good. Get the fuck out of here next week.
Both Cuff It and I'm A Mess jumped eight spots. I'm still not sure why we are making Cuff It a thing, but I'm super happy about I'm A Mess jumping.
Enough is now in the top 15. Nice to see.
Even sweeter to see Eyes On You jumping 14 spots to #14. I'm glad this is becoming as big as Sunroof was.
But I am questioning why Lift Me Up jumped 10 spots. I think this will be out next week as I heard it wasn't on the survey.
Made You Puke is now in the top 10, I'm perfectly fine with this.
As did World's Smallest Violin, although this is starting to get old.
Star Walkin is now at #3, I really hope this dethrones Anti Hero next week.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
Hits 1 started playing enough, then cut through it then played hold me closer, then cut a bit played golden hour, then eyes on you. Weird hehe
