Hits 1's top 30 of 2022

Hello everyone, it's that time of year again! Time for Hits 1's top 30 of 2022, and this will not be the same format as one of my previous countdown posts, more like the format of my year end posts. Let's get into it.

30. Taylor Swift- Message In A Bottle
(sighs) As if I haven't already had enough Taylor Fucking Swift in my life right, this somehow made the bottom spot. This is your typical overrated Taylor Swift song, and this being from Red Taylor's version makes it worse, although Midnights is obviously the more overrated album. At least the goddamn 10 minute version of All Too Well was not here.

29. Ed Sheeran- Shivers
This started out fine, but after it spent 14 consecutive weeks at #1, then it became worse than Perfect, which was easily his worst song. Now I can't get behind this song's tenure at #1.

28. Tiesto/ Ava Max- The Motto
Finally a great song. This one is so fun. I like Tiesto's production on this and Ava Max sounds pretty great. I can't wait for Drive next year.

27. Halsey- So Boring
I already talked about this in my worst of 2022 list. And how it made the #27 spot will remain a mystery to me. This is super annoying and that bridge especially makes no sense.

26. OneRepublic- I Ain't Worried

However, I'm glad this made the list. This was easily the better Top Gun song in my opinion (I actually saw that movie over the summer). This has cool production and Ryan Tedder sounds great.

25. Marshmello/ Khalid- Numb
This one is really fun. I like Marshmello's production here and Khalid sounds great. Also, when comparing this to Linkin Park's 2004 song of the same name, it's a tie.

24. Jax- Victoria's Secret
Oh fuck no. How the fuck did this make the list? This is super annoying and is not worthy of even being on this list. I really hope this is the last Jax song Hits 1 picks up on.

23. Post Malone/ The Weeknd- One Right Now
Interesting how this made the list. This was one of the better 12 Carat Toothache songs, but I Like You is a lot better. The production is super cool and they both sound great.

22. Tate Mcrae- She's All I Wanna Be
So I guess I was the only one who was underwhelmed by Tate Mcrae's album I Used To Think I Could Fly. AS for this one, she sounds fine and it has decent production, but it's nothing I would really come back to. You was so much better.

21. Imagine Dragons- Bones
This one was pretty good. I liked the production and I liked how they pitched Dan Reynolds's vocals down in the pre chorus. I unfortunately think it stayed a bit too long. Like with One Right Now, I grew back into it after it left the countdown.

20. Jack Harlow- First Class

I was not expecting this to make the list, but I'm happy nonetheless. This is a super cool song. He sounds great throughout and I especially like the sample of Glamorous by Fergie and Ludacris in the chorus.

19. Shawn Mendes- When You're Gone
This is so much better than It'll Be Okay, his other song about his breakup with Camila Cabello. The production is more interesting and he sounds better here. It's nothing I'm a huge fan of though.

18. Neiked/ Mae Muller/ Polo G/ Regard- Better Days
This was such a great song. Both Mae Muller and Polo G sounded great on this and the production from Neiked and later in a remix, from Regard, is super cool. I liked Regard's version better, it had a super cool drop.

17. Charlie Puth/ Jungkook- Left And Right
Now this one is still on the countdown, but it is still fun. Both of them sound great and it has cool production.

16. Ava Max- Maybe You're The Problem
I really like this one, but definitely not as much as Waffle does. This sounds like a better version of Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo. I like the production on this and she sounds better than certain other songs of hers.

15. Harry Styles- Late Night Toppling
Of fucking course. It's not a Hits 1's top 30 of 2022 without at least one Harry Fucking Styles song. And there are probably two on here, with Ass It Was still to come. Anyways, this is your typical overrated Harry Fucking Styles song, but in Bb major.

14. Post Malone/ Doja Cat- I Like You
This one was really fun. It reminds me a lot of South Of The Border by Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, and Cardi B from three years ago. I'm glad this made it as high as it did.

13. Lauren Spencer-Smith- Fingers Crossed
Okay, I think this was placed a bit too high. It's better than Flowers, but not by a whole lot. She sounds fine, but the production is still kind of slow, though somewhat upbeat. Also, Zestpond called this a carbon copy of Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi, and now I can't unhear that.

12. Latto- Big Energy
This was good but not great. Sunshine with Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino is leagues better, and I'm not sure why that was not as huge as this. It was definitely very interesting though.

11. Ed Sheeran- Overpass Graffiti
Just like Shivers, this started out fine but got annoying immediately after hitting #1 because I was already tired of Ed Sheeran at #1 after Shivers's long ass tenure at #1. Thank god this got dethroned by Enemy after five weeks.

10. Em Beihold- Numb Little Bug
All right. This was pretty good, not exactly great, plus it tried to pull a Stay at the end of its tenure. Too Precious was a lot better, and I wish that had been as huge.

9. Megan Thee Stallion/ Dua Lipa- Sweetest Pie

I liked this a lot at first, but it faded on me since then. I liked Dua Lipa's hook on here and Megan delivered some great verses.

8. Gayle- Abcdefu
This was catchy as hell, and it has super interesting lyrics for a breakup song. I don't like this as much as other people do, however.

7. Charlie Puth- Light Switch
This was fine, nothing too special. Also, it's in a key I tend not to really enjoy songs in.

6. Imagine Dragons/ JID- Enemy
Okay, that's cool. Apparently I was one of only two people that liked this, the other being Beluga. I thought this was super fun. Dan Reynolds sounds great throughout, and I really like JID's verse. And I personally liked that hook.

5. Dove Cameron- Boyfriend
This was pretty cool. I liked the production on this and she sounded great, this song gives off serious Billie Eilish vibes, and I mean this as a compliment.

4. Lil Nas X- That's What I Want
I'm not sure how this outpeaked Shivers and Overpass Graffiti, but I'm happy nonetheless. This was a great song off Lil Nas X's album Montero, and I will forever remember this for dethroning Shivers after those 14 annoying weeks.

On the topic of songs that dethroned an annoying song from a long tenure at #1...

3. Nicky Youre/ Dazy- Sunroof
This was such a great song. It had cool production and he sounded great throughout. Of course, Eyes On You is better and I hope that can become as big as this in 2023.

2. Lizzo- About Damn Time
I remember this song's historic countdown run quite a bit. In case you forgot, when this hit #1, Lizzo became the first black woman to hit #1 in 10 years and the first to do it solo in 14 years. The song is pretty good, and I'm glad it did as well as this.

And Hits 1's #1 song of 2022 is....

1. Harry Styles- Ass It Was
WWWWHHHHHHYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!? If you read my worst list, you know this is my least favorite song of 2022, and since it is also #1 on Hits 1's year end countdown, now you can see why. Everyone everywhere overrated the hell out of this song, it spent way too long at #1 on billboard, and even though it didn't break Shivers's record, it was #1 for way too long and I will forever be grateful that this got dethroned by Sunroof after eight weeks.

I guess that concludes my review for Hits 1's top 30 of 2022, see you guys for my countdown post this weekend.
