God, did this first song really need to debut? No. But here we are. Anyways, Weapons by Ava Max is on here after 10 weeks on Hitbound when it wasn't on the survey, one week in the abyss, and two more singles off Diamonds & Dancefloors being released and BOTH OF THOSE SONGS being a lot better than this. Put that all together and combine it with the fact that people in the discord were dropping the chorus to this song at an annoying rate, I am officially done with this song. Plus, it sounds a lot like Victoria's Secret in my opinion. I hope this doesn't last long.
Ok, now on to my favorite debut this week, Love From The Other Side by Fall Out Boy. Talk about a banger. The production here is super wild and Patrick Stump sounds amazing on this. This is an amazing return for FOB, and I hope this can have as much success as possible on here.
Lastly, 10:35 by Tiesto the rapper and Tate Mcrae actually debuted this week, and higher than I expected it to. This is super cool. I like Tiesto's production here per usual, and Tate Mcrae sounds great on this. All I want is for this to jump a few spots next week.
Hitbound:
Mckenna Grace- Ugly Crier
The Kid Laroi- Love Again (Debut)
Charlotte Sands- Alright (Debut)
Sam Smith/ Calvin Haris/ Jessie Reyez- I'm Not Here To Make Friends (Debut)
Big Boss Vette- Pretty Girls Walk (Debut)
Casey Bishop- Blurry Vision
Jordi- Hate You
Fall Out Boy- Heartbreak Feels So Good (Debut)
Lonnie- One Night Stand
Stephen Sanchez- Evangeline (Debut)
Tyla- Been Thinking (Debut)
All Time Low- Tell Me I'm Alive
Zara Larsson- Can't Tame Her (Debut)
Charlie On A Friday- That's What I Get (Debut)
Will Linley- Last Call (Debut)
Rita Ora- You Only Love Me (Debut)
First up, we have an actual Kid Laroi song called Love Again, and I don't care that he stole the title from Dua Lipa, I'm just glad we have an actual Kid Laroi song instead of an intro. This is really just good. He sounds good but there could be a bit more productionwise imo. I'm totally fine with this on here.
Round 2 of Charlotte Sands? Really? Yeah, so if you are new here, I did not like her song Dress as it was a Harry Styles fangirl track, and I've taken enough with everyone stanning him. But this new song, Alright, is not that, and it's quite good. The production makes a lot more sense here than in Dress as well, and she sounds better here. I saw some speculation that this would be the 1TW, and I'd be cool with that.
So yesterday, Sam Smith put out Gloria, and I will be doing a review of that album sometime next week, so stay tuned (I will also be reviewing D&D next week). So we have a song from the album on here called I'm Not Here To Make Friends, and it's a collaboration with Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez. This is pretty good. Sam Smith sounds really good and I like Calvin Harris's production, and I think Jessie Reyez is only doing backup vocals. It's fine tho.
Next up we have this, which is metaphorically a hybrid of Jiggle Jiggle and a Saweetie song. It's called Pretty Girls Walk by Big Boss Vette. This is actually kind of cool. The lyrics are kind of funny and she sounds really good, almost exactly like Saweetie. Fun song.
One Week after Love From The Other Side, Fall Out Boy put out the second single off their upcoming album called Heartbreak Feels So Good. This is also pretty good. I like the production here and Patrick Stump sounds great again, and I actually like the melodies here more than Love From The Other Side. I hope this debuts.
After Until I Found You's strange countdown run, Stephen Sanchez brings another song to Hits 1 called Evangeline. It's another ballad, but it evolves throughout, and he sounds pretty good. Perfectly fine follow up.
Up next we have a newcomer out of South Africa named Tya with her song Been Thinking. This is super cool. It has such a catchy beat and I like how she sounds here. This should be the next 1TW if possible.
Up next is a new song from Zara Larsson called Can't Tame Her. I usually like Zara Larsson's music, and this is no exception. This some really cool production and she sounds really good. I'm glad this is here.
Charlie On A Friday is back after Enough hit the top 5 with his new son That's What I Get. This might be better than Enough. He sounds like Post Malone here again, and I actually like the production here more than on Enough. Good follow up song.
Next up, newcomer Will Linley is on here with his song Last Call, and this is kind of good. I think he sounds a bit like a cross between Quinn XCII, Lewis Capaldi, and 24kgoldn, and that's a good thing. It also has cool production. Fun song that should be 1TW.
Lastly, Rita Ora makes her first appearance on here in forever with her new song You Only Love Me. This is good. She sounds pretty good, but I think she has better songs, and this is moderately forgettable.
We lost Boy's A Liar, Where Do We Go Now, I'm In Love With You, I Can't Go Back To The Way It Was, Brrr, Wasted, and Gossip. The first three are in the abyss, so hopefully they debut next week, especially Where Do We Go Now. Still unsure as to why ICGBTTWIW was on here since it was an intro, and Brrr was never too memorable, so I'm fine with that going. But why the last two though? Wasted and Gossip are serious bangers in my opinion and I'm not sure why they didn't make the countdown. Oh well, I guess I will never understand Hits 1 as well as I should.
Blurbs
Our exits were World's Smallest Violin, Calm Down, and Snap. Good Riddance to Snap, it lasted way too long for what it was, World's Smallest Violin had a good run on here and will be missed, and Calm Down has also lasted pretty long, but it should have peked in the top 20 at least.
Couldn't care less about Nobody Gets Me falling, especially since Kill Bill is now in the top 20.
Sex Drugs Etc dropped three spots. Good. Get out of here next week.
Million Dollar Baby might be on its way out, it fell seven spots. It had a great run, but I will take it over its successor by a mile.
I expect Victoria's Secret to be gone next week as well, good riddance.
Forget Me, I'm Good, and Star Walkin all fell out of the top 5. Goodbye great songs.
And then, Anti Hero did not just fall to #2, it fell to #7. Glad this is falling finally.
Yes! Creepin jumped up to #6! I'd actually like to see this hit #1 here.
Flowers jumped 20 spots on its second week. Makes sense, this debuted at #1 on the hot 100 this past week.
Ugh. Lavender Haze at #3? Seriously! Just get rid of her already. I really hope Creepin, Enough, and/ or Eyes On You can hit #1 before this does.
And so, Made You Puke hit #1 this week, making this Meghan Trainor's first #1 since All About That Bass in 2014 and second #1 overall. Honestly, I'm just relieved that something finally dethroned Anti Hero, and on the one year anniversary of Shivers getting dethroned too.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
