Two banger songs missed by Hits 1 and somebody's first #1 ever (Week of 2/11/2023)

Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post. I will be extending the rankdown due date to next Friday and then I would REALLY like to get started after that. This week was fine, we have a new #1 that I kind of saw coming, but Hitbound is really cringe right now as we gained some songs that have no business being here instead of two of my new favorite songs. Let's get started, we only had one song leave this week:

Joji- Die For You (#26 last week)

Countdown Extra: Inji- The One
Last Year's #1: Lil Nas X- That's What
#1 Two Years Ago: Dua Lipa/ Dababy- Levitating
My Favorite Song Last Year: The Chainsmokers- High
My Favorite Song Two Years Ago: MGK/ Halsey- Forget Me Too
Recommendations For Hits 1: Jason Derulo/ David Guetta- Saturday/ Sunday and Linkin Park- Lost

A more tame week debutwise, as we only have one debut this week, it's Stephen Sanchez's follow up to Until I Found You, Evangeline. This is pretty good. Stephen Sanchez sounds really good here, maybe better than in Until I Found You, but there could be a bit more productionwise, but it's fine. I hope this has a more normal run than its predecessor.

Hitbound
Will Linley- Last Call
Dove Cameron/ Khalid- We Go Down Together (Debut)
Charlotte Sands- Alright
Lizzo/ Sza- Special (Debut/ Re-entry)
Zara Larsson- Can't Tame Her
Jordi- Hate You
Rita Ora- You Only Love Me
Jessie Murph- What Happened To Ryan (Debut)
Havanna Winter- Death Wish (Debut)
Renee Rapp- Too Well (Re-entry)
Lauren Spencer-Smith- Best Friend Breakup (Debut)
Inji- The One
Charlie On A Friday- That's What I Get
Morgan Wallen- Last Night (Debut)
Big Boss Vette- Pretty Girls Walk
Casey Bishop- Blurry Vision

Gonna be honest, my expectations for this first debut were too high. It's from Dove Cameron and Khalid and it's called We Go Down Together. It's Dove Cameron's first time collaborating with anyone else and Khalid is joining Ed Sheeran on his tour over the summer. And, this is only good. The both sound fine but the production is super slow and I can't get behind that. So yes, this should have been more upbeat.

Yesterday, Lizzo put out a remix to the title track of her album Special with Sza, and it is now on here. I actually like this more than the original. Sza does a great job on her verses and Lizzo does well too. I'd be fine with this being a hit.

Folks, welcome to the latest episode of Shitbound, where we can't pick up on great songs like Saturday/ Sunday by Jason Derulo and David Guetta or Lost by Linkin Park, but we can pick up on What Happened To Ryan by Jessie Murph. I talked about Jessie Murph's song About You last week, and this is not as good. She sounds fine and it is in a tolerable key, but the production is kind of slow for me. I'm not sure why this is here, but I'm not entertained.

Folks, welcome to the latest episode of Shitbound, where we can't pick up on great songs like Saturday/ Sunday by Jason Derulo and David Guetta or Lost by Linkin Park, but we can pick up on Death Wish by Havanna Winter. Why are we making her a thing? This is super weird and has somewhat questionable lyrics, and I'm not sure who she's trying to rip off here. Plus, I know this is going to stay on until she puts out another song, and I hope that does not happen.

Folks, welcome to the latest episode of Shitbound, where we can't pick up on great songs like Saturday/ Sunday by Jason Derulo and David Guetta or Lost by Linkin Park, but we can pick up on Best Friend Breakup by Lauren Spencer-Smith. And yes, I intentionally started my reviews on the last three songs exactly the same as I have similar opinions on the artists: Hits 1 is always picking up on their songs and I never care about them, and in the case of Havanna Winter or Lauren Spencer-Smith, some of their songs are pretty bad, meanwhile, Saturday/ Sunday and Lost are amazing songs. As for this new LSS song, it's fine, better than Fingers Crossed but not by much. It's more upbeat than Fingers Crossed or Flowers and she sounds fine, but this is moderately forgettable and I'm not sure why we're still trying to make her a thing.

Lastly, someone I can always tolerate the music for. It's from Morgan Wallen, who drops his new album in a few weeks and could pull double duties on SNL when the album drops. This song is pretty good. It has similar production to Wasted On You or 7 Summers, both of which I liked, and he sounds really good. I'm not sold on the key it's in, but it's fine. I'm glad this is here.

We lost One Night Stand, Ugly Crier, Tell Me I'm Alive, and About You. One Night Stand is in the abyss, so hopefully it debuts next week, I'm not sure if Ugly Crier is in the abyss or not, but I'd rather it not debut, Tell Me I'm Alive got robbed and should have been given a chance to debut, and About You was replaced by What Happened To Ryan, so that makes sense being out.

Blurbs
Our only exit was Joji's Die For You. I was going to move this up to blue because it was growing on me, and this should have done as well as Glimpse Of Us had.

So... they switched to the original version of Players. It sounds like a slowed down version of what DJ Smallz 732 did, but I prefer the remix by a mile.

I'm glad we're letting I'm Not Here To Make Friends do well.

Umm... why did Love From The Other Side and Escapism switch spots?

Both The Weeknd's Die For You and I'm A Mess fell 9 spots after breaking the top 10 last week. I'm not sure why I'm A Mess dropped, but I'm fine with Die For You dropping.

Weapons dropped four spots. Good. Continue falling.

Jesus Christ, why is Bloody Mary jumping? It's too old to have success here.

I'll happily take 10:35 in the top 10, I'm glad this is having success.

I don't like that Eyes On You fell three spots. I hope this rebounds next week.

Made You Puke fell three spots so we have a new #1 this week, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, and this is actually her first #1 on here. This makes sense being here as it was #1 on the hot 100 the past couple weeks, and I'm fine with this being here, and I really hope this blocks Lavender Haze, which is somehow at #2, but I also want Eyes On You and Creepin to hit #1 as well.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
