#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Slander/ Blackbear/ Bring Me The Horizon- Wish I Could Forget

Oh great. Up first is Daylight by David Kushner. I have no clue how the fuck this has 1.1 billion views on Tiktok, but it does, and it's not good (but it does have the potential to grow on me). This is pretty damn slow for a song as viral as this is, but David Kushner actually has an interesting voice, he kind of sounds like a cross between Tiesto and Lewis Capaldi. Ok, enough said here.

Next up, we have Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj with Alone, this samples Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay, the same song that Play Hard by David Guetta, Ne Yo, and Akon, Alone by Trevor Daniel, El Incomprendido by Farruko, Victor Cardenas, and DJ Adoni, and Crying On The Dancefloor by Endless Summer and Violet Days also sampled. Those four songs, especially the last two, are better than this. This is more of a trap song with the Better Off Alone melody in the background, and used in a key that doesn't fit the sample well, too. That said, both Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj do a great job here and I like the production. Interesting song.

Lastly, I'm In Love With You by The 1975 re-entered. Great to see it back.

Hitbound
Icandy- Keep Dat
Maroon 5- Middle Ground (Debut)
Lu Kala- Pretty Girl Era
Post Malone- Mourning (Debut)
Ed Sheeran/ Luke Combs- Life Goes On
Bakar- Hell N Back
Kesha- Only Love Can Save Us Now (Debut)
Lewis Capaldi- Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before (Debut)
Jonas Brothers- Summer Baby
Jimin/ Jvke/ Muni Long/ Kodak Black/ Nle Choppa- Angel Part 1 (Debut)
Kali- Area Codes (Debut)
Conan Gray- Never Ending Song (Debut)
Pitbull/ Lil Jon- Jumpin
Ice Spice/ Nicki Minaj- Princess Diana
Presley Regier- Nevermind
Coco Jones- ICU

This first debut should have been better. This is Maroon 5's first song since Adam Levine sent those bizarre dms last year. I usually like Maroon 5's music, in fact, I actually saw them in concert five years ago. This isn't as good as other big hits from them. Adam Levine sounds really good here, but it's moderately slow even though it evolves. Seems like something that could grow on me though.

Earlier this week, Post Malone announced a new album called Austin that drops at the end of July. And from it, we have the next single off it called Mourning. This feels like what I am expecting from him. The production is really similar to songs off Beerbongs & Bentleys, and I liked Rockstar, Psycho, and Better Now. Also, Post Malone sounds great as always. I hope this is a hit.

Up next, Kesha makes her first appearance on Hits 1 since Raising Hell with Big Freedia in late 2019/ early 2020, and that song was quite good. This is also kind of cool. It gives off the vibes of her older material, but less EDM and more trap, although a Country/ EDM type beat in the chorus. She sounds pretty good too.

Lewis Capaldi put out a new album yesterday, and from it, we have Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before. Hmm... this sounds almost exactly like Someone You Loved, which grew on me after its countdown run. Except after the first chorus, it picks up a bit, making this more likeable than his entire discography except Forget Me from last year. He also sounds really good here. Good job, LewCap.

Up next we have a really strange collab off the new Fast & Furious 10 soundtrack, this is from Jimin from BTS, Jvke, Muni Long, Kodak Black, and Nle Choppa, who is the only one of these five making his Hits 1 debut. As strange of a collab as this is, this song is so good. I like how Jimin, Jvke, and Muni Long exchange doing the chorus midway through, and both Kodak Black and Nle Choppa deliver solid verses, done over solid production. I really want this to be a hit.

We have a song by a newcomer up next, this song is Area Codes by Kali (not to be confused with Kali Uchis). This is somewhat interesting. She almost sounds like a cross between Saweetie and Latto, and that's a good thing. The production feels a bit spyful in my opinion, and I feel like this has no real melody. I might forget what this sounds like soon.

Lastly, we have a new Conan Gray song called Never Ending Song. This feels a lot retro in my opinion, and I think that's the first time he's done that. I think his voice was down-pitched here, to the point where Hunter said he kind of sounds like Elvis here, and I can actually see that. Cool song.

We lost Dancing In The Courthouse, They Don't Love It, Glad U Came, Fantasy, Don't Call Me Pretty, and Search & Rescue. I would have loved to see They Don't Love It, Glad U Came, and Fantasy on the countdown, but it's cool, I forgot what Don't Call Me Pretty sounds like, and I was never sold on the other two.

Blurbs:
Our exits were Nonsense, Kill Bill, and Lavender Haze (finally). All of these were getting really old. With Nonsense leaving, it has broken the record for highest spot a song left the countdown from as it left from #4, this record was previously set by Kiss Me More by Doja Cat and Sza and Eyes On You by Nicky Youre, both of which left from #5. Kill Bill was fading on me, so I'm fine with that going. Lastly, Lavender Haze was another annoying AF song off Midnights, so good fucking riddance to that.

Good. Satellite fell three spots off its debut. Unfortunately, this might last pretty long since Ass It Was fell four spots on its second week and then hit #1 for eight weeks.

Fast Car got a big jump on its second week for what it is, and that's a good thing.

I don't think Ceilings needed to re-enter the top 20.

Last Night is slowly but surely rebounding. Great to see.

I guess 10:35 is on its way out, but I think it had a really good run for an EDM song these days.

Wow. Double Fantasy jumped huge. Hopefully, this makes the top 10 next week.

And speaking of making the top 10, Baby Don't Hurt Me and Thank God did just that. Woohoo for both.

I would much rather That's Not How This Works make the top 5 next week than Karma.

So for the third week in a row, we have a new #1, it's Love From The Other Side by Fall Out Boy, this being their first #1 since The Last Of The Real Ones in 2018. Obviously, I am very happy that this has finally hit #1, it was taking its sweet ass time to get here, to the point where I thought it wouldn't be #1, at least until last week, when it made the top 5 and then I thought it would be #1. Unfortunately, I see this getting dethroned next week, either by Waffle House or Eyes Closed., but I'm glad it was here in the first place.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
