Up first, we have Paint The Town Red by Doja Cat. This is pretty good, definitely better than Attention. The production is so much cooler than in that song and her flow is really good here. I hope this is in a different spot next week though.
Up next, Kpop group New Jeans make their countdown debut with Super Shy. This is also just a good song. They all sound fine but it feels a bit generic. We shall see how my opinion plays out.
Two weeks ago, Post Malone dropped Austin, and from it, we have Enough Is Enough. According to Hallett, this isn't even a single, but I'm not even surprised, given what happened with Wrapped Around Your Finger when Twelve Carat Toothache was dropped last year. And this new song is probably my least favorite song from him, but it's not that bad. He sounds pretty good but this doesn't feel like a song he should be featured on. And since it's not a single, I don't really see it lasting really long on here.
And saving the best for last, we have Kylie Minogue making her first appearance on here in 15 years, this song is called Padam Padam, and it solidifies her name on to my list of celebrities who went viral for something else long into their careers, which I talked about when this first debuted HB, but I realize I should also add Jack Black to that list. Anyway, on to the song. This is really good. She sounds really good and I like the EDM production on here, it sets the vibe hard. Just some legendary shit right here.
Hitbound
Fifty Fifty/ Kaliii- Barbie Dreams
Olivia Rodrigo- Bad Idea Right (Debut)
Max/ Jvke/ Bazzi- Strings
Bort- Can You Hear Me (Debut)
Travis Scott/ The Weeknd/ Bad Bunny- Kpop
Lauv- Love U Like That
Diplo/ Jessie Murph/ Polo G- Heartbroken
Charli Xcx- Speed Drive
Charlie On A Friday- I'm Not Crazy
Flyana Boss- You Wish (Debut)
Crash Adams- Sugar Mommy
Notd/ Maia Wright- AM:PM (Re-entry)
DJ Khaled/ Lil Baby/ Future/ Lil Uzi Vert- Supposed To Be Loved (Debut)
Jelly Roll- Need A Favor
Will.i.am/ Britney Spears- Mind Your Business
We have the second single from Olivia Rodrigo's album Guts on here, this is called Bad Idea Right. This really should have been better. I'm not sure what she's trying to do in the verses, but they don't work that well. The chorus and production are both solid, so the song's not too bad. I think we need more normal music on the rest of Guts.
Ok this next song is going to be really interesting to talk about. It's called Can You Hear Me and it's by a band called Bort, and here's the lineup: The lead vocalist and guitarist is Jordan McGraw, who had a song on here four years ago that I really liked called Flexible, the drummer is Jack Lawless from Dnce, and the bass guitarist is Zach Merrick from All Time Low. H o l y C r a p. When those three do a song do a song together, that's how I know I'm in for a banger. And this is what that is. This was really well produced and Jordan McGraw sounds really good here. I hope this is a huge hit.
We have another new group on here, except with artists that I have never heard of before. The group is called Flyana Boss, and the song is called You Wish. This is good. Whoever is rapping here sounds pretty good and I like the production. That's all I have to say.
In a complete surprise, AM:PM by Notd and Maia Wright, which dropped out of Hitbound in April, re-entered four months later. I still like this, so I'm glad it's here.
Lastly, DJ Khaled has a new album out soon, and from it, we have Supposed To Be Loved with Lil Baby, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert, who finally makes their Hits 1 debut. This is really good. DJ Khaled did a great job producing, I like Lil Baby's hook, and he, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert do great verses. So much better than the last time I remember that Dj Khaled got Lil Baby on a song.
We lost Lose Control, Cut, and One In A Million. Lose Control is in the abyss, and it is growing on me, so hopefully, it debuts next week, and the other two should have debuted the countdown.
Blurbs:
Our exits were Daylight, Fast Car, Last Night, and Mourning. Except for Fast Car, these are all leaving for the second time, and probably for good this time, which is fine for Daylight and Last Night, because they have been here for a decent bit, but I wish Mourning had lasted longer or dropped a little bit before leaving. And Fast Car did surprisingly well for what it was.
Glad to see Do It Like That rebounding.
In The Stars got a nice jump off its debut. It's better than most old music that has made the radio recently, so I'll take it.
Why did they wait until now to let Barbie World do something?
Also, why is What Was I Made For jumping when everyone hates it?
Nice to see Dial Drunk jumping into the top 20 on its second week.
Could Snooze just leave already?
Waffle House might be on its way out, but I'm fine with that. It had a good run.
Surprisingly, Mona Lisa is actually close to tying the peak it hit in the fake countdown from last month.
Nice to see Summer Baby in the top 10.
Ok why is satellite continuing to jump?
And Give Me A Kiss held off Cruel Summer again this week. I hope Cruel Summer never hits #1 at all.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
HrishK would hate it, (but I would love it, because it's solid and enjoyable) if there were AssTEEZ, Stray S**ts and ENCRAPPEN songs on Hits1. But I would like more rap as well. Also NO COUNTRY PLEASE
ReplyDeleteAlso we need a couple of more tiktok trending songs on Hits 1 as well
