A bit too late this time (Week of 9/2/2023)
Hello everyone, sorry this is a few days late. I had band things on Saturday and was traveling on Sunday and Monday, and did not have time to do my post until today. I'll do better next time. We had two debuts this week. They got hype from everyone and were really disappointing to me. First up is Single Soon by Selena Gomez, and it's just good. I don't like the key that this is in, but she still sounds fine and the production is alright. Just not what I was hoping for.
We have really been overrating Miley Cyrus in 2023, haven't we? At this point, Used To Be Young could just be the lead single off Endless Summer Vacation 2. And yes, this song is extremely mediocre. She sounds alright, but the song is extremely slow and sounds a lot like Jaded, which has really gotten annoying lately. Yeah, I hope this flops.

Only two debuts this week, and no dropouts either. Makes my job easier. Up first, Nicki Minaj announced a sequel to her 2010 album Pink Friday, called Pink Friday 2. The original Pink Friday had Super Bass, which is my favorite song from her. And now we have the lead single off Pink Friday 2, this is called Last Time I Saw You. And this is pretty good. She sounds pretty good here and this has cool production. Great song.
In reality, this next song probably should have existed in 2006 or 2007 as the three artists on it were popular then. So it's by Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake, and the song is called Keep Going Up. One thing I like about Timbaland's production is that it's extremely unique and you can tell he did the production when you hear it, this is the case with Sexyback with Justin Timberlake, Apologize with OneRepublic, The Way I Are with Keri Hilson (which hit #1 in 2007, btw), and now this new song. On top of that, both Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake sound great per usual. Should this have been made in 2006 or 2007? Probably. But will I take it in 2023? Definitely yes.
As previously stated, no dropouts this week, so let's move on.
Blurbs
Our exits were Baby Don't Hurt Me and Speed Drive. Baby Don't Hurt Me had a great run and I still like this even though it faded on other people. In fact, I still plan on putting it in my top 10 for the countdown extras rankdown at the end of the year. Meanwhile, Speed Drive is still in the abyss, and could still re-enter, but it isn't that great.
Oof. Daylight fell seven spots off re-entry #3. This is probably done for good after this.
I guess I'm fine with Bad Idea Right jumping so far.
I really hope All My Life can rebound back into the top 10. But it was honestly a miracle that it got there in the first place.
Speaking of rebounding, that's what happened to Mona Lisa. Glad it did.
Runaway is starting to fade on me at the moment.
It looks like Give Me A Kiss is on its way out. But given who else picked up on it, it had a really great run.
Annnddddd...... Cruel Summer is still #1. I really hope Dance The Night, What It Is, or Vampire can dethrone it next week.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
