BRUH (Week of 9/30/2023)

Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post. Wow, it looks like UC is not doing as well as I previously thought they were, they lost for the third week in a row last night, this loss was to BYU. As for the countdown, it was better than the UC football game, but not by much, mainly because Cruel Summer is still #1. Here are the songs that left:

#1 Two Years Ago: The Kid Laroi/ Justin Bieber- Stay
My Favorite Song Last Year: David Guetta/ Bebe Rexha- I'm Good
My Favorite Song Two Years Ago: Drake/ Future/ Young Thug- Way 2 Sexy
Recommendations For Hits 1: Talk- Wasteland and Alan Walker/ Dash Berlin/ Vikkstar- Better Off (Alone Part 3)

Up first, we have On My Love by Zara Larsson and David Guetta. Gonna be honest, I was expecting this to be better. I think Guetta has done better producing jobs before and it could have been in a different key. It is still pretty good, since Guetta's production is not bad at all and Zara Larsson sounds good. So I'm alright with it being here, but I wish it was better.

And after one week in Hitbound, the Blink 182 ballad One Last Time debuted. My only real criticism is that it's fairly slow, but with the lyrics, it makes more sense. They are reflecting on their history and the tragedies they overcame as a band, such as Barker being involved in a plane crash in 2008 and Hoppus battling cancer two years ago, but through it all, they still remained close. I'd still love to see More Than You Know on here as well.

Hitbound
All Time Low/ Avril Lavigne- Fake As Hell
Nsync- Better Place (Debut)
Travis Scott- I Know (Debut)
Ed Sheeran- American Town (Debut)
Maneskin- Honey (Debut)
Lu Kala- Hotter Now
AJR- Yes I'm A Mess (Debut)
Presley Regier- Have Your Way (Debut)
Hayes Warner- Breadcrumbs (Debut)
Jungkook/ Jack Harlow- 3D (Debut)
Knox- Not The 1975
Loud Luxury/ Two Friends/ Bebe Rexha- If Only I
Henry Moodie- Pick Up The Phone
Pink Pantheress- Mosquito (Debut)
The Rose- Back To Me
Jordi- Just A Friend

So we're starting off with another big return. Nsync (if you don't know, that's a boy band that was popular in the late 90s/ early 2000s and Justin Timberlake was part of it) have reunited to make a new song for the upcoming third Trolls film, this being their first song as a group in 22 years. And it's a pretty good return for them too. They all sound pretty good here and I like the production here. Good to see them back after two decades.

We have another song off Travis Scott's album Utopia up next, this is called I Know. This gives off the vibes of many classic songs of his, and that is a compliment. His flow is also pretty solid here. I'm glad this is one of the more successful songs off the album.

So Ed Sheeran put out a new album yesterday called Autumn Variations, and it has no singles off it but Hits 1 picked up on American Town off it. I definitely would not put this among his better songs, since I can hardly remember how it goes, but I do remember liking it. I might even listen to and review the album later to compare this to the other songs from it.

Next up, they picked up on a song I recommended a few weeks ago, Honey by Maneskin. And wow, this has got to be their best song yet. It's the same style as Mammamia and Gossip, which is amazing, because I liked both of those songs a lot. Damiano David sounds amazing here per usual. I really hope this one is a huge hit.

AJR is also back with new music today, this is called Yes I'm A Mess. Is it just me, or does this sound like something they could have made in 2017? Because it reminds me of something like Weak or Sober Up, and that's a compliment, plus Jack Met sounds great here per usual. I hope this is a hit.

Ok are we just going to continue picking up every Presley Regier song? Because it's kind of starting to get as annoying as when they pick up on Havanna Winter or Jessie Murph, as none of these three have had any countdown entries. So Presley Regier's new song is called Have Your Way, and it's just all right. It's super forgettable, but he still sounds pretty good. Could we not pick up on his next song please...?

So I think we remember Hayes Warner from her HB dropout Dead To Me from earlier this year. Well, she has another song on here called Breadcrumbs. Interesting title. I'm not liking this one as much as I do Dead to Me, but it is still pretty good. It's mostly forgettable, but she still sounds pretty good and it is finely produced. So ok then.

Ok, so Jungkook and Jack Harlow have collaborated. Interesting. This is called 3d, and I think it's pretty good, but I don't like it as much as I do Seven yet. Jungkook is still one of the better sounding BTS members and he sounds pretty good here too, and Jack Harlow's verse fits the song perfectly, as does his outro. So it works.

And finally, we have another Pink Pantheress song on here. This is called Mosquito, and it's pretty good. Earlier this year, she did a song with Skrillex and Trippie Redd called Way Back, and this new song reminds me of that song in a good way. She also sounds pretty good here per usual. SO happy to see this on here.

We lost I Remember Everything, Summer Vibes, Feather, Gimme Love, I Do, Shirt, Summer Too Hot, and Downtown. The first three are in the abyss, so hopefully Summer Vibes and Feather debut next week. The rest of them I was never too sold on, although I Did like Shirt and Downtown a decent bit.

Blurbs:
Our exits were All My Life and Mona Lisa. All My Life did surprisingly well for a collaboration between Lil Durk and J Cole, so I'm not complaining about its run on here. I'm also not complaining about Mona Lisa's run, although I wish it had made the top 10 like it did in both fake countdowns.

Looks like Keep Going Up is finally living up to its title, at least by three spots.

Paint The Town Red finally did something.

Looks like Give Me A Kiss is on its way out. Can't complain, it had a good run, although Waffle might complain about its run once it leaves.

I've decided Barbie World is getting kind of annoying. I'm wondering when it will ever leave or do something.

Luckily, the better Nicki Minaj song on here also jumped four spots.

Guess Vampire is beginning its exit. It had a good run, so I can't complain too much.

Oh no. It looks like Used To Be Young is now at #3. I really hope this doesn't dethrone Cruel Summer next week and that What It Is is #1 for at least one week in between those two songs.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.

Comments

  1. Two songs debut hitbound this week (and a re-entry from a Billboard #1 song)
One of the debuts is from a newcomer, while the other is from a rock singer who now goes under his real name.
