My top 10 worst songs of 2023
Hello everyone, it's that time of year again, time for me to do my top 10 worst songs of 2022 list. This will follow the same format as when I did this last year, this has no criteria, but it will mostly be ballads, Taylor Swift songs, or songs I really found annoying. Let's just get into it.
10. Taylor Swift- Lavender Haze
So we're starting off with the first of three Taylor Swift songs on here. The reason this is lower than the other two is because this didn't hit #1 as it never deserved to. It would have been fine if it were sung by someone else, but we're dealing with Taylor Swift here, so this is completely not good and deserved no success at all.
9. Jessie Murph- Where Do You Go
I'm gonna admit it, why the fuck did they even start picking up Jessie Murph's music? I heard six songs from her on Hitbound that were only good at best, and this is by far the worst song of hers that Hits 1 picked up on. It's too damn slow for my liking and she sounded better in literally all of her other songs. And spoiler alert: I will be putting this in last place for the Countdown Extras rankdown.
8. Lady Gaga- Bloody Mary
In case I haven't made it clear, I don't like it when old songs go viral on Tiktok years after their release and become pop hits, and this is yet another example of that. This was originally on Lady Gaga's Born This Way album, which is from 2011. It just did not fit how the rest of the album went, and felt not like a 2011 era Lady Gaga song. I thought the Wednesday music department did not learn from what happened with Stranger Things, and I hope that type of thing never happens again. Ever.
7. Willow Avalon- Stranger
So this was our first 1TW since It's Been So Long by K Flay from last year, and it is not good at all. This is way too slow for what it is, and she doesn't sound that great here. Not sure why this is still lurking in the bottom 5 after debuting two months ago, but I hope this song's run is done soon.
6. Harry Styles- Satellite
No Shits 1, we did not want a random track off Harry's Hellhouse one year after its release. This is as bad as the other songs I heard off that album, and it should have not even made the top 5 under any circumstances. And big fat HAH on this leaving from #3 and possibly getting the biggest... DRRRRRRROP! off the countdown ever, according to Spyder Harrison.
5. Billie Eilish- What Was I Made For
Hits 1 overrated the living shit out of the Barbie soundtrack (without even picking up on Choose Your Fighter or I'm Just Ken, which are my two favorites from the soundtrack), and this is easily the worst song off the soundtrack. It's too slow and she has sounded better on various other songs of hers (Bad Guy and Happier Than Ever, for example). This really should not have jumped into the top 10 in the latter part of its run.
4. Raye/ 070 Shake- Escapism
I could have just as easily gotten away with never hearing this train wreck in my entire life. The production feels completely out of place when Raye sounds better on house songs, and the lyrics are moderately cringe, I don't want to hear upbeat songs about hangovers ever again.
3. Miley Cyrus- Flowers
So in 2023, we overrated the hell out of Miley Cyrus, starting with this song that did not deserve #1 at all. I actually found this fine at first, but it was #1 for too long on both Billboard and Hits 1, with the latter picking up on Song 3A on this list. Now any Miley Cyrus song I heard in 2023, with the exception of River, is too damn annoying, and this song started it all.

3A. Miley Cyrus- Flowers (Demo Ballad)
2. Taylor Swift/ Ice Spice- Karma
Yeah, I was hoping Ice Spice's first appearance on a year end list would not be on a worst one (Spoiler alert: she also appears on my best list with Pretty Girl), but here we are, thanks Taylor Swift. Of course, it goes without saying that the original was not good at all, but she remixed it with Ice Spice, and her verse does not make the song better at all. The chorus does not make any sense at all. I'm glad this got dethroned by Waffle House eventually (or in a fake countdown, Daylight).
Before I reveal my least favorite song of 2023, I'm going to list some dishonorable mentions
Chappell Roan- Kaleidoscope
Too slow, and her voice did not go well with the production at all.
Taylor Swift- All Of The Girls You've Loved Before
Ran out of room on the main list, but this is yet another annoying Taylor Swift song.
Nicki Minaj/ Ice Spice/ Aqua- Barbie World
This one got super annoying in the latter part of its run.

Fifty Fifty/ Kaliii- Barbie Dreams
Unnaturally annoying, and the Fifty Fifty girls have almost no chemistry with Kaliii.
Jason Aldean- Try That In A Small Town
I don't like pro Trump music, and this is no exception.
Oliver Anthony Music- Rich Men North Of Richmond
See my blurb above. Also, why the fuck is his spotify name Oliver Anthony Music instead of just Oliver Anthony?
Taylor Swift- Is It Over Now
Asks the question I wonder every time I hear the song.
And so my worst song of 2023 is...
1. Taylor Swift- Cruel Summer
Yeah, I don't think this should be a surprise to anyone, given how many times this appeared in orange in my countdown posts. I already mentioned how I don't like older songs blowing up years after their release, and I've mentioned numerous times that I don't like Taylor Swift at all. So we have Midnights still being too goddamn popular and the cities that she visited for the eras tour doing things to commemorate her shows (For reference, when I went to see Ed Sheeran in Pittsburgh earlier this year, the city of Pittsburgh didn't do jack shit for him). And then Cruel Summer unnecessarily starts blowing up on Tiktok when she's already too goddamn overrated and this was on the countdown for five weeks in 2020. Then it re-entered the countdown at #9, I believe while Karma was still #1. Then this eventually hit #1 itself when it should have stayed off the countdown after leaving. So fuck this song and fuck the Taylor Swift fanbase for overrating a four year old song of hers. I've already ranted about this enough, so I'll stop here.
And that concludes my worst songs of 2023 list. I will see you guys for my countdown post this weekend (or maybe later, since this Saturday is my 21st birthday), and sometime next week for my best list.
