Last post of 2023 (Week of 12/30/2023)
Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post, the last of 2023. Sometime next week, I will officially be launching the 2023 countdown extras rankdown now that I have all the songs for it. We have one debut this week (rarity for the last countdown of a calendar year), it's Not My Fault by Renee Rapp and Megan Thee Stallion. I talked about this a couple weeks ago, and my opinion still stands. This collab works quite well in my opinion. Renee Rapp sounds really good throughout and I like Megan Thee Stallion's verse a lot, and The production is EDM type, and in a good way. Great song.
Hitbound
Mitski- My Love Mine All Mine
Victoria Monet- On My Mama
Alec Benjamin- I Sent My Therapist To Therapy
Dove Cameron- White Glove
Knox Girl On The Internet
Tate McRae- Run For The Hills
People R Ugly- Brain Dead
Lany- XXL
Dominic Fike- Mama's Boy
AJR- Inertia
Boys Like Girls- Miracle
Central Cee- Entrapreneur
Jungkook- Standing Next To You
Patrick Martin- Dandelion Eyes
The Kid Laroi- Bleed
Jaguar Twin- Bad Feeling (Debut)
Only one debut this week, and it came as a 17th song at the very end (the reason for there being sixteen songs on the list is that Not My Fault pulled a Sunday Best this week). This is Bad Feeling by Jaguar Twin, and it samples the Oompa Loompa song from the 1971 Willy Wonka movie, and in a really interesting way too. And I like this one. Jaguar Twin sounds pretty good and the Oompa Loompa sample is executed flawlessly, on to some solid production. Glad this is here.
No dropouts this week, let's move on.
Blurbs:
We had one exit this week, Used To Be Young by Miley Cyrus. Honestly, this should have never hit #1 and lasted a bit too long, plus, what replaced is so much better it isn't even funny.
Phew. Everybody dropped off its debut. Now I can breathe easier knowing this won't be that huge.
What It Is jumped five spots... Oh God, is this going to pull a Stay? At least the song (What It Is) is good so I'm not complaining.
Seasons, on its third week here, also jumped five spots. Glad to see that.
Noooo why did Lovin On Me drop 8 spots? I really hope this rebounds next week.
Ok why the fuck did Heartbroken jump back into the top 20? This should be gone with the low AF airplay it currently has.
Is Not The 1975 ever going to make the top 10?
At least Yes I'm A Mess is back there. For reference, I got tickets to see AJR for Christmas, so of course I'm super happy about their song being in the top 10.
Strong Enough has finally made the top 5. Sorry Hallett, but I'd rather this hit #1 before Can't Catch Me Now does.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys in 2024!
Last song played on Hits 1 in 2023: Lil Boo Thang
ReplyDeleteFirst song played on Hits 1 in 2024: Not the 1975
Both bangers imo
