First Countdown of 2024 (Week of 1/6/2024)
Hello everyone, welcome back to another countdown post, first post of 2024 and the first Big 12 basketball game for UC is tonight, so I'm looking forward to that. Also, it will be a couple months before I begin reveals on the Countdown Extras rankdown because Daniel is currently doing Part 1 of the HB Dropouts rankdown and then Hunter is starting a rankdown after that's done. What happened this week is common for this time of year. There were no exits this week, let's just get into it.

Ok, this first song exists. This is Wherever U R by Umi and V from BTS. This is just good. They both sound pretty good but it is on the slower side in my opinion. Overall, in terms of solo songs by BTS members, I prefer the solo songs from Jimin and Jungkook that I have heard.
But then it gets better, because next up we have the band Smallpools making their Hits 1 debut with Night Shift. This is quite good. This gives off the vibes of an All Time Low song in a good way and whoever is doing the vocals sounds really good. I'd like to see this be hit here.
Lastly, Lewis Capaldi put out a deluxe version of his album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, and from it we have Strangers. Aside from the fact that he blatantly jacked the title from an actual hit from Kenya Grace, this is pretty good. Trey said this sounds exactly like Pointless from about a year ago, and I can definitely see that. It starts out pretty slow, but evolves a decent bit as it goes on. I'm overall glad this is here.
We lost Brain Dead, My Love Mine All Mine, and Dandelion Eyes. The first two are in the abyss, so hopefully Brain Dead debuts next week and My Love Mine All Mine doesn't, and Dandelion Eyes should not have randomly re-entered six months later.
Blurbs
Why are both Jessie Murph songs still here? Neither of them have airplay, so they should be gone next week.
All right. Good to see Water rebounding finally.
Also nice to see Lovin On Me back in the top 20 after its hard fall last week.
Personally, I'm fine with Need A Favor at #7, but I know (cough, cough) some people who aren't.
Get Him Back fell four spots from #1, and Greedy is back in the top spot. I have a suspicion this will only last two more weeks at the top spot since there has always been a new #1 in the last week of January every year since 2020. Lil Boo Thang jumped eight spots to #3, hopefully that hits #1 in 3 weeks.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
YESSSS Now that We Don't Talk and Pick Up the Phone is on the countdown!

DeleteBruce Melodie & Shaggy - When She's Around (#30)
DeletePeople R Ugly - Brain Dead (#29)
Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine (#27)
Taylor Swift - Now That We Don't Talk (#21)
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday Girls (#20)
Henry Moodie - Pick Up the Phone (#19)
I honestly have absolutely no clue what's gonna happen to any of the songs that debuted the countdown this week. Most of them aren't even hits anywhere else.
Since B.O.T.A and Jump never made it to Hits 1, BM and FILA are both on Hitbound this week, making both their first songs on here
