Hello everyone, welcome back to the third countdown of 2024. I wanted to get this out earlier because the UC/ Oklahoma basketball game is at 1pm today. This week was fairly interesting, with three songs that deserved the top 10 making it there, but my two favorite debuts last week unnecessarily left. Let's just get into it. Countdown Extra: Umi/ V- Wherever U R
Last Year's #1: Taylor Swift- Anti Hero
#1 Two Years Ago: Ed Sheeran- Shivers
My Favorite Song Last Year: Metro Boomin/ The Weeknd/ 21 Savage- Creepin
My Favorite Song Two Years Ago: Sza- I Hate U
#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Kungs/ David Guetta/ Izzy Bizu- All Night Long

We have another song from Post Malone's album Austin up first, this is called Sign Me Up. I've been kind of underwhelmed by the songs from that album that I've heard, aside from Mourning. This one is also just good. He sounds good as always and it has alright production, I'm just not wowed by anything here. Maybe I just need to hear this more.

After dropping out of HB last week despite being the extra, Strangers by Lewis Capaldi debuted. My opinion still stands. Aside from the fact that he blatantly jacked the title from an actual hit from Kenya Grace, this is pretty good. It reminds me a decent bit of his song Pointless from about a year ago, honestly. It starts out pretty slow, but evolves a decent bit as it goes on. I'm overall glad this is here.

Now on to my favorite debut this week, it's Lil Nas X's new banger J Christ. And wow, this is among my favorite songs from him. It reminds me of his song Late To Da Party with NBA Youngboy from two years ago, as well as Humble by Kendrick Lamar. His flow is completely on point throughout. I hope this is a huge hit on here.

Good Good by Usher, Summer Walker, and 21 Savage re-entered. Not sure why, but OK.

Next up is Ariana Grande's latest, Yes And. Yes, and I'm not entirely sold on this yet. The production is pretty cool and she sounds pretty good, but it takes some time to get going, as in she doesn't start singing until one minute into the song. I already know this will be a hit, meaning it could grow on me in the future, but as of recently, I don't see that happening soon.

Lastly, Standing Next To You by Jungkook debuted. This is definitely nowhere near as good as some of the other solo songs from him I heard, notably 3D and Too Much. It feels a bit to retro in my opinion, and Jungkook's voice doesn't exactly go super well with that type of production but he still sounds fine. Overall, decent song.

Hitbound
P1Harmony- Fall In Love Again
Knox- Here's To Us (Debut)
Zara Larsson- You Know Who You Love (Debut)
Alec Benjamin- I Sent My Therapist To Therapy
Benson Boone- Beautiful Things (Debut)
AJ Mitchell- Foolish (Debut)
Umi/ V- Wherever U R
Kygo/ Ava Max- Whatever (Debut)
24kgoldn- Good Intentions
Willow Avalon- Honey Ain't No Sweeter
Crash Adams- Good Side
Jagwar Twin- Bad Feeling
AJR- Inertia
Smallpools- Night Shift
Eliza Rose/ Calvin Harris- Body Moving
Boys Like Girls- Miracle

Well, needless to say, there was a little bit of overhype around this new Knox song, Here's To Us. And I don't necessarily like this as much as I do Not The 1975 or Girl On The Internet, but it's not bad at all. Good production, good lyrical content, and he sounds good. I don't exactly remember anything else about it, that's all.

Zara Larsson is also back with a new song called You Know Who You Love. And this is also just good. The production is fine and she sounds quite good as usual, I just wish this was in a different key than it's in. Then it would have been better.

H o l y C r a p. This has got to be my favorite Benson Boone song thus far, probably would have gotten the purple ranking if the new Kygo/ Ava Max song didn't debut. This is called Beautiful Things, and it is quite good. It starts off slow but then takes a Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish type turn about a minute in, leading to what might be his best hook ever, and he sounds really good on the upper register to the upbeat production. I recently saw that this is projected to be top 20 on Billboard soon, and I hope it debuts there.

AJ Mitchell. There's a name I haven't heard in a few years. If you don't remember, he had a HB dropout with Ava Max four years ago called Slow Dance and then another one three years ago called Stop, and I found both of those to be pretty good. Today, he brings us Foolish, and I like this more than his other songs from on here. The only downside is that the production reminds me of that of Ass It Was, but since AJ Mitchell isn't Harry Styles, I can safely enjoy this. AJ Mitchell also sounds pretty good. Hopefully, this is first appearance on the countdown.

And saving the best for last, we have the previously mentioned Whatever by Kygo and Ava Max, and this samples Whenever Wherever by Shakira. And this one is quite good. Ava Max sounds really good per usual and this is among Kygo's better production jobs. Also, this reminds me of his 2018 song Born To Be Yours with Imagine Dragons, which is also quite good. I hope this is a huge hit.

We lost XXL, Mama's Boy, and Girl On The Internet. XXL is in the abyss and I don't care what happens to it next, Mama's Boy was quite odd, and Girl On The Internet was better than his new song from this week but not as good as his current countdown song.

Also, I moved Fall In Love Again and Body Moving up a tier from last week, because they both grew on me this past week.

Blurbs
Our exits were What It Is, Need A Favor, Stranger, My Love Mine All Mine, When She's Around, and Brain Dead. What It Is lasted a pretty long time on here, so I'm fine with that going. I also liked Need A Favor, but I know others who would be happy about that song leaving, and Stranger is finally gone, and My Love Mine All Mine only lasted one week, so good riddance. Unfortunately, When She's Around and Brain Dead also lasted only one week. I really want these to re-enter next week. Oh well, at least they weren't replaced by fucking Murder On The Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Hah, Everybody continues to flop hard.

Why did seasons fall though? I hope this rebounds.

Hah! Now That We Don't Talk dropped off the debut. Hopefully, this never makes the top 20.

Looks like Enough Is Enough will be out next week.

Lil Boo Thang took a shocking fall... I really wanted this to hit #1 at some point.

Ayy let's go! Stick Season jumped all the way up to #13! That's good to see.

At least Pink Friday Girls and Pick Up The Phone jumped eight spots off their debuts. I'm still not completely sold on the latter, but its jump somewhat makes up for When She's Around and Brain Dead leaving.

Lovin On Me is finally back in its rightful place in the top 10. Hopefully, it stays there this time.

Not The 1975 also finally cracked the top 10 for the first time. Hopefully, the upward momentum continues.

Looks like Lose Control is back at #2. Hopefully, this is #1 next week, especially since one, two, three, and four years ago next week, there was a new #1, effectively meaning that I've been part of the Hitmakers for four years now. Where did the time go, honestly?

I guess that does it forme this week, see you guys next week.
