Recommendations For Hits 1: Jason Derulo/ Michael Bublé- Spicy Margarita and Don Toliver- Bandit

First up, despite being off the airplay chart for a couple of days, Brain Dead by People R Ugly miraculously re-entered. Unlike Waffle, Daniel, and others, I'm not complaining, in fact, I'm obviously very happy it's back. It also felt pretty good when Spyder said he liked the song when introducing it.

Next up, Selfish by Justin Timberlake, which had infinitely higher airplay than Brain Dead btw, debuted. This has honestly grown on mee a fair bit since last week, although I'm still not entirely sold on it. Justin Timberlake sounds pretty good, and while it has a slower feel than it probably should, the production is solid. I still know that this will be huge, but now, I don't exactly mind.

Finally, we have Beautiful Things by Benson Boone. As I said a couple weeks ago, this might be his best song thus far. It starts off slow but then takes a Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish type turn about a minute in. The hook is quite powerful in a good way and Benson Boone delivers one of his better vocal performances here. I'm glad it's top 15 on Billboard, and I hope it achieves the same success here.

Hitbound
Jagwar Twin- Bad Feeling
Knox- Here's To Us
Flyana Boss- Candyman
Fletcher- Lead Me On
Alec Benjamin- Pick Me
Eliza Rose/ Calvin Harris- Body Moving (Re-entry)
Charlie On A Friday- Somebody New (Debut)
Paul Russell- Say Cheese
Fall Out Boy- So Much For Stardust
Willow Avalon- Honey Ain't No Sweeter
Crash Adams- Good Side
The Kid Laroi- Heaven
Teddy Swims- The Door
Lil Nas X- Where Do We Go Now
Kygo/ Ava Max- Whatever
Boys Like Girls- Miracle

Aside from a re-entry from Body Moving, we only had one debut this week, Somebody New. This is honestly quite good. It's about that feeling when you haven't fully moved on from a relationship and want to express your feelings about. Then the song is in Bb major, Charlie On A Friday sounds good per usual, and I like the production here. Good song.

We only lost Think You The S***, but it's in the abyss, so it could debut next week.

Blurbs
Our exits were Now That We Don't Talk, Lil Boo Thang, and Can't Catch Me Now. Honestly, good fucking riddance to Now That We Don't Talk, it deserved to be here for zero weeks instead of three. Lil Boo Thang had a great run, so I'm not complaining about that either, and Can't Catch Me Now surprisingly underperformed for an Olivia Rodrigo song, but it wasn't as good as the other Guts singles, so it's fine.

Ugh. Why did Everybody jump four spots?

At least Strangers unsurprisingly jumped eight spots.

Stick Season rebounded a little bit. Good to see.

Even better, Seasons has cracked the top 20 for the first time ever. I really want the upward movement to continue next week.

Couldn't care less about Standing Next To You jumping into the top 15, however.

Is It Over Now is finally out of the top 5. Keep falling.

Unfortunately, so did Lose Control, I kind of wanted this to hit #1.

Replacing both of those songs in the top 5 are Strong Enough and Feather, which could potentially be Sabrina Carpenter's first ever #1 on here, but I also want Strong Enough to be #1 as well. Interesting fact, the last time a guy hit #1 was about six months ago, that was Give Me A Kiss. This is not a complaint, especially since aside from Cruel Summer and Used To Be Young, the #1s after GMAK have been pretty good. And on the topic of #1, we have a new one, Houdini. Super glad this made the top spot, it is such a catchy track. I only see this lasting one or two weeks in the top spot before it gets dethroned by Feather or Strong Enough, but we shall see.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.

  1. Brandi Carlile finally got her first official appearance on Hits 1... Hallett's probably really happy right now.
