The countdown was better than how the UC football game ended (Week of 9/7/2024)

Yeah, I shouldn't need to explain how my posts go when UC loses a football game. So yeah, we were winning for the fucken majority of the game and Pitt took a one point lead with 7 seconds left even though we were up by 21 at one point. The countdown was honestly a fully different story. Sure, there was only one debut, but it was good, and one of the worst songs of the year continues to get blocked. Let's just get into it, here is our one exit:

Eminem- Houdini (#6 last week)

Last Year's #1: Taylor Swift- Cruel Summer
#1 Two Years Ago: Harry Styles- Late Night Toppling
My Favorite Song Last Year: Paul Russell- Lil Boo Thang
My Favorite Song Two Years Ago: Elton John/ Britney Spears- Hold Me Closer
#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Linkin Park- The Emptiness Machine

We have one debut this week, Slippin by Paul Russell and Meghan Trainor. This is quite good. This is super fun and they both do a pretty good job here. These two actually did another collab recently called Booty form Meghan Trainor's latest album, and that's also pretty good.

Hitbound
Henry Moodie- Right Person Wrong Time
Halsey- Ego (Debut)
Jimin- Who
Jessie Murph/ Bailey Zimmerman- Someone In This Room (Debut)
Katseye- Touch
Andy Grammer/ Maddie & Tae- I Do
Addison Rae- Diet Pepsi
Katy Perry- Lifetimes
Dasha- Didn't I
The Chainsmokers/ Kim Petras- Don't Lie (Debut)
Alex Warren- Troubled Waters (Debut)
Tinashe- Nasty
Myles Smith- Wait For You
Camila Cabello- Godspeed (Debut)
Beabadoobee- Beaches
Koe Wetzel/ Jessie Murph- High Road

I still have no expectations for whatever Halsey's next album will be like, and such is the case with this new song from it, Ego. This is good. She sounds fine and it has a tolerable beat, but it's definitely a bit forgettable. Definitely better than The End though.

Just so we're keeping track, this is now the third time Hits 1 has picked up on a Jessie Murph song instead of an attempt at a Linkin Park comeback single, and in this case, the attempt at a Linkin Park comeback single isn't a previously unreleased song with the late great Chester Bennington's vocals, instead, they found a new lead vocalist and they recorded this within the past year. More on that story when The Emptiness Machine (that's the name of the new LP song) debuts, but instead, we're stuck talking about this new goddamn Jessie Murph song, which is called Someone In This Room and features Bailey Zimmerman. And this is complete mediocracy. It's slow and weird, which has become quite cliche from Jessie Murph at this point. Bailey Zimmerman sounds good, but that's not enough to save the song from any of the aforementioned flaws. I'm fucking done with Jessie Murph after this.

Although we don't have that new Linkin Park song on here, we do have a song that deserves the purple ranking, Don't Lie by The Chainsmokers and Kim Petras. Ok guys, this is quite good. While Drew Taggart doesn't have vocals here, he and Alex Pall still did an amazing job producing and Kim Petras sounds pretty good here. I hope this is on the countdown.

Next up, we have Alex Warren's third Hits 1 appearance, this is called Troubled Waters. This is good but I like both Before You Leave Me and Carry You Home more. His voice once again sounds fairly serenading and it has a good beat, I'm not as keen on the melodies here as I am on the aforementioned songs. It's fine though.

Lastly, Camila Cabello put out a deluxe version of CXOXO, and from it, we have Godspeed. This is just good. It's a bit slow imo, but she once again sounds pretty good. Overall, I'll take He Knows or Hot Uptown over this.

We lost Push Me Over, ATL's version of Dear Maria Count Me In, Lonely Is The Muse, and Dirty. The Original Dear Maria Count Me In was already on the countdown, so I never expected the new version to do anything, and I never cared about the other three.

Blurbs:
Our lone exit was Houdini. I would have preferred this dropped a bit before leaving, but it's cool.

Why did Mamushi fall to the bottom of the countdown?

Why is Why Why Why continuing to jo=ump? it's only a little bit mediocre...

I'm glad Hot To Go jumped off the debut.

Great To See Miles On It back in the top 10.

I Had Some Help continues to hold off Please Please Please, which is sharply losing airplay. I wouldn't be surprised if this leaves from #2 next week, and if it does, I will not complain at all.

I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
