No computer, maybe somewhat of a problem (Week of 11/16/2024)
Hello everyone. I'm super sorry this is almost a week late, my computer is in the shop after I busted the screen after getting out my previous post, and I was only recently able to make it to a UC computer lab to do this, so don't expect my next post to be out until this coming Monday. Don't worry, I'm still very interested in tracking the Hits 1 countdown. We had a pretty decent week this week, with some solid HB entrants. Let's just get into it, here are our exits:

We have one debut and one re-entry this week. Our debut is Akon's first appearance on the countdown since Sexy Chick with David Guetta 15 years ago (that's right, they didn't add Play Hard with David Guetta and Ne Yo in 2013 and Who Dat Girl dropped out of HB), this is called Beautiful Day. This is still quite good in my opinion. I've always liked Akon's voice, and he sounds quite good here too. Plus, the song is in Bb major and has solid production and melodies. Great return for Akon, I hope this has some success.
And then Love Somebody re-entered. I hope this does something this time.
Hitbound
Halsey- Panic Attack
Lil Nas X- Light Again (Debut)
Almost Monday- Can't Slow Down
Tate McRae- 2 Hands (Debut)
The Kid Laroi/ Quavo- Slow It Down (Debut)
Henry Moodie- Good Old Days
Meg Donnelly- In My Bag (Debut)
Nessa Barrett/ Artemas- Mustang Baby (Debut)
Balu Brigada- So Cold
Shaboozey- Good News (Debut)
Griff- Last Night's Mascara
Myles Smith- Wait For You
Dasha- Heartbreaker From Tennessee (Debut)
The Marias- No One Noticed (Debut)
Jessie Murph- Sip
Jonah Marais/ Ryan Lewis- Slow Motion (Debut)
Our first debut is the latest from Lil Nas X, this is called Light Again. This is quite fun. The beat here is super cool, almost reminds me of that of Yes And by Ariana Grande from earlier this year, and Lil Nas X sounds quite good here. I hope this does infinitely better than J Christ not just here on Hits 1, but everywhere else too.
Tate McRae announced she will be dropping a new album in early 2025, and from it, we have 2 Hands. This is another solid song from her. The beat here is quite cool and she sounds pretty good. Glad I heard this.
Next up, The Kid Laroi and Quavo have collaborated on a new song called Slow It Down. And I'm gonna be honest, I like this a lot more than Benson Boone's song of the same title from earlier this year. Both of them sound quite good together and the beat is cool, not to mention the apparent sample of Independent Woman Part 1 by Destiny's Child works quite well. I hope this becomes a hit.
Something I've noticed is that Disney stars, notably female Disney stars, tend to start music careers, and now Meg Donnelly adds her name to that list. She's here with In My Bag, and I kinda like this. She has a good singing voice and I like the EDM type beat this has. I'm fine with this on here.
That's right guys, Hits 1 picked up on the wrong collab. So the day before I was supposed to get this post out, Pitbull and Bon Jovi teamed up for an insanely fire banger. Unfortunately, Nessa Barrett and Artemas also dropped a collab that day and that's what Hits 1 picked up on instead. Although to be honest, this is better than anticipated, but that's not saying a whole lot. They both sound fine and the beat is alright, it's just relatively forgettable. So it's fine, could've been better or worse.
Now for my favorite debut this week. A Bar Song by Shaboozey is pretty close to breaking the record for most weeks at #1 on the hot 100 previously set by Old Town Road by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus in 2019, and now Shaboozey has a new song called Good News. Wow. This is really good. The beat here is similar to that of A Bar Song and Shaboozey sounds as good as, if not better than, he did on that song. And it's the lyrics here that really make this song work. Let's just hope Shaboozey is not a one hit wonder.
Please stop picking up on Dasha. Her music has gotten a bit annoying lately, and we now have Heartbreaker From Tennessee, and this is just good. It has the same feel as every other song I've heard from her, but she still sounds fine, so it works. It's definitely not bad, unlike...
Well, I guess I need to talk about this next song now. No One Noticed by The Marias has been doing well on streaming and the hot 100 and I will never understand why. So it is now on Hits 1. So how is it? Yeah, it's not good. There is minimal production here and it feels way too long for what it is, and whoever is singing does not sound good enough to bring my opinion of the song up at all. Next!
Well, at least we are ending our list of debuts on a high note, as Jonah Marais from Why Don't We brings his first solo song to Hits 1, this is called Slow Motion, and it is produced by former Macklemore collaborator Ryan Lewis. This is pretty cool. I like Ryan Lewis's production here and Jonah Marais sounds pretty good. Solid song.
We lost That's So True, Make Me Happy, Zip, Nice To Meet You, Bye Bye Bye, and Whatcha Want. The first two are in the abyss and could debut tomorrow (from when I'm writing this) and Zip might also be in the abyss as it was the extra this week. Nice To Meet You should have debuted, Bye Bye Bye was alright, and I'm not sure what the point of bringing Whatcha Want back was if it was just going to drop out again.
Blurbs:
Our exits were I'm His He's Mine and We Pray. Just like I predicted, I'm His He's Mine flopped hard and I'm alright with that. I liked We Pray and I think it had a solid run on here.
Sailor Song is already flopping... could rebound though.
Could Diet Pepsi just leave already?
Moonlit Floor and APT are both in the top 20 now, maybe time to get Mantra there too.
Disease is starting to get the success everyone thought it would have.
I was not expecting Forever Young to jump as much as it did, but I am obviously very happy that it did.
If I Can Do It With A Broken Heart would leave the top 10, that would be great.
And then Taste has reclaimed the top spot. I'd rather this not be #1 for too long, if Stargazing or Die With A Smile could make it there, that would be cool.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys... sometime soon I guess.
