Hello everyone, welcome to another post. If you haven't seen my worst list for 2024 yet, you should definitely check that out, especially the rant on the song at the top of that list because I kind of enjoyed writing that one. #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Quavo/ Teddy Swims/ Luke Bryan- Georgia Ways
We only have one debut this week, and debuting surprisingly high at #11, we have I Love You I'm Sorry by Gracie Abrams, which hasn't been doing that well in airplay lately but I'll gladly take this. This is by an entire mile my favorite song from The Secret Of Us. It's a little bit on the slower side, but the key is what really does it for me, and it has sweet lyrics. So yeah, really good song, I hope it has success here.
Hitbound:
Meg Donnelly- In My Bag
Lola Young- Messy (Debut)
Dasha- Heartbreaker From Tennessee
Twice/ Megan Thee Stallion- Strategy (Debut)
Raye- Oscar Winning Tears (Debut)
Balu Brigada- So Cold
Rosé- Toxic Till The End
Griff- Last Night's Mascara
Twenty One Pilots- The Line
Henry Moodie- Good Old Days
Crash Adams- Optimist
Nessa Barrett/ Artemas- Mustang Baby
Jessie Murph- Sip
Almost Monday- Can't Slow Down
Jonah Marais/ Ryan Lewis- Slow Motion
The Marias- No One Noticed
I think this first song might be having a bit of a viral moment right now, this is Messy by Lola Young. This is solid. It has a pretty good beat and Lola Young sounds pretty good. So I'll definitely take this.
I think we remember the Kpop girl group Twice... this is their first appearance on Hits 1, they had The Feels a few years ago that never made Hits 1 at all, this is Strategy with Megan Thee Stallion. This is kind of cool. The production feels like something Timbaland could have done, and that is a compliment. Everyone from Twice sounds good and Megan Thee Stallion's verse fits in well with the song. So this definitely works.
Lastly, we have more Raye... and apparently this song, Oscar Winning Tears, is two years old. Yayyy... But honestly, this is alright. It has a cool enough beat and Raye sounds solid, and this has interesting lyrics. I'll take it for now, but this could get relatively annoying if it sticks around.
We lost You Can Do Anything, Bad Dreams, and Nice To Meet You. The first two are in the abyss and Nice To Meet You is starting to fade on me.
Blurbs:
Our exit was I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. It was about fucking time this left long ago. And its positioning on my worst list says it all.
Both Wicked songs jumped a little bit off their debuts from last week. Interesting.
I'm somewhat surprised Moonlit Floor is flopping.
Super happy that Good News and Love Somebody are now in the top 20. Hopefully these both make the top 15 next week.
Looks like Stargazing might be on its way out.
Close To You somehow made it to #2... It's been on here for 25 weeks and is starting to get relatively annoying, so I'd rather this not hit #1 please and thank you.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
