Looks like we're starting off by talking about the best debut on our list, Slow Motion by Marshmello and the Jonas Brothers. This is quite good. I always like how Marshmello changes his production style for all of his songs, and here, he goes for the vibe of a classic Kygo song, and that's a compliment. Also, both Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas sound good here per usual. So yet another great sequel collab.
Up next, we have Guilty by Teddy Swims. This is pretty good, although forgettable. It has a good beat and Teddy Swims sounds great per usual, that's really all I need to say here. Another solid song from him.
Our final debut is the latest single from Tate McRae's upcoming album, this is called Sports Car. This is pretty good. It gives off the vibes of 2000s pop and Tate McRae sounds good once again here. So another solid song from her.
Hitbound:
Alessi Rose- IKYK
The Weeknd- Cry For Me (Debut)
Crash Adams- Optimist
Jennie/ Dominic Fike- Love Hangover (Debut)
Nessa Barrett- Love Looks Pretty On You (Debut)
Morgan Wallen- I'm The Problem (Debut)
Sexyy Red/ Bruno Mars- Fat Juicy &
Vella- All My Love (Re-entry)
Kesha- Dear Me
Knox- Pick Your Poison
Kendrick Lamar- Squabble Up (Debut)
Lauren Spencer-Smith- Pray
Djo- Basic Being Basic
Kane Brown/ Katelyn Brown- Body Talk (Debut)
Twice/ Megan Thee Stallion- Strategy
Willow Avalon- Baby Blue
Yesterday, The Weeknd dropped Hurry Up Tomorrow, and from it, we have Cry For Me. If I'm being honest, this is my favorite from that album thus far, yes, it's even better than Timeless. The song is in Bb major and has amazing melodies, and The Weeknd sounds good like he always does. I hope this is on the countdown.
Jennie from Blackpink brings another song to Hitbound this week, this is a collaboration with Dominic Fike called Love Hangover. This is solid. It has an interesting beat and Jennie sounds good here, and I quite like Dominic Fike's verse. I don't plan on revisiting it anytime soon though.
Hits 1 has returned to consistently picking up on Nessa Barrett's music recently, and now I have to talk about Love Looks Pretty On You. This is all right. It's a bit forgettable and not all that interesting but Nessa Barrett sounds good. I might need a break from Nessa Barrett after this.
Gonna be honest, my expectations for this next song were a bit high. It's Morgan Wallen's latest song I'm The Problem. This is not as good as Love Somebody but definitely better than Smile. He once again sounds good here but it's still a little bit slow. There is a little bit of a beat, though, so it could easily grow on me.
All My Love got sent back to Hitbound, this is the first time something like this happened since Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez almost three years ago. Although it's only sort of a re-entry since it pulled a Sunday Best last week.
Hits 1 is a bit late picking up on this next song, and it honestly should have debuted straight onto the countdown, like with Not Like Us in September and Timeless last month. I'm talking about Squabble Up by Kendrick Lamar, and it is quite good. It reminds me a little bit of Not Like Us, except he's not making insults towards Drake throughout the song. The point is it has a similar beat to that song and he kind of sounds like he does in Not Like Us here too. So great song.
Our last debut, they're also a bit late picking up on. So Kane Brown teamed up with his wife Katelyn for the second time after Thank God in 2023, this is called Body Talk. This is also pretty good. It has a bit of a Latin feel to it and both of the Browns sound pretty good. It's still not as good as Thank God, but it's fine.
We lost Last Night's Mascara, Push 2 Start, Drive, and Smile. Last Night's Mascara is in the abyss, so hopefully it debuts next week. I wish Push 2 Start was given a chance, so I'm a bit sad that's gone. Drive was all right and Smile was not as good as any other Morgan Wallen song, that includes I'm The Problem, so I'm fine with both of those leaving.
Blurbs
Aside from All My Love, our exits were the two songs from Wicked. These really worked better in the context of the film, but they both grew on me. I have a more neutral opinion about them leaving.
Luther thankfully rebounded.
Great to see Am I Okay jumping off the debut.
Diet Pepsi thankfully didn't last long in the top 20.
Forever Young finally rebounded. Great to see.
After entering the top 10 last week, Moonlit Floor fell to #15. It's starting to fade on me, so I'm fine with that.
Ok why is Apple still jumping? It should be on its way out now.
Good News is almost in the top 5, Let's hope it makes it there, possibly even to #1. Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of APT being #1, so hopefully, we get something else there soon.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
