Enrique Iglesias/ Pitbull/ IAmChino- Tamo Bien
Ok, so I still have to talk about Dasha one year later. She's back with Not At This Party, and... this is better than the majority of what I've previously heard from her, it has a solid beat and this is among her better vocal performances. So yeah, among her better songs, but still nothing I should revisit.
Next up, Role Model is finally back on the countdown for the first time since Going Out in late 2020, this is Sally When The Wine Runs Out. It's safe to say this has grown on me since I talked about it last week. The beat is pretty fun and Role Model sounds quite good here. Glad he's on the countdown again with a good song.
Next up is Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else by Benson Boone. I'm not completely sold on this as of yet, it has a good beat and this sounds more normal by the music critic standard, it's just not in a key I usually like. This could grow on me though.
Lastly, it's been a couple years since we last heard from Lizzo, but now she's back with Love In Real Life. Again, pretty good, nothing too special, though. She sounds pretty good and it has an interesting beat, though I'll take some of the songs from Special over this.
Hitbound:
Ashley Cooke/ Joe Jonas- All I Forgot
Lady Gaga- Garden Of Eden (Debut)
Almost Monday- Can't Slow Down (Re-entry)
Almost Monday- Can't Slow Down (Re-entry)
Jennie/ Dua Lipa- Handlebars (Debut)
Jisoo- Your Love
Alex Warren- Ordinary
Doechii- Anxiety (Debut)
Emei- Crazy Stupid Love
Alessi Rose- IKYK
Ryann- Dirty (Debut)
Cil- You're A Liar (Debut)
Daniel Seavey- Lose Me Like You Mean It (Debut)
Lisa/ Future- Fxck Up The World
Dove Cameron- Too Much
Imogen Heap- Headlock (Debut)
Justice/ Tame Impala- Neverender
First up, Lady Gaga dropped Mayhem recently, and from it, we have Garden Of Eden. And this is another banger from her that gives off the vibes of her classic music, and she sounds pretty good per usual. Great song.
For whatever reason, Can't Slow Down by Almost Monday re-entered. Ummm....
Jennie from Blackpink also dropped a new album, and from that, we have Handlebars with Dua Lipa. This is good. I think they both sound pretty good but it doesn't have the kind of production I was expecting, it's a bit slower than I anticipated. So solid song, but could've been better.
Now for what could be my favorite debut this week, Anxiety by Doechii. I didn't exactly care for Denial Is A River, but this is thankfully a lot better. So if you remember Sorry 4 The Wait by Lil Wayne or Blind by Alex Sampson, this samples Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and Kimbra in the same way that those two songs sample Rolling In The Deep by Adele and Youngblood by 5 Seconds Of Summer respectively, and I've made it clear that I kinda dig this method of sampling. And of course, this is quite good. The Somebody That I Used To Know beat is used to its fullest and Doechii sounds quite good here. Yeah, solid song.
Our next two debuts are from random newcomers, because why not? The first of these isDirty by Ryann. This is solid. It has a decent beat and she sounds fine, it's just a bit forgettable. That's all I have.
The other debut by a random newcomer is You're A Liar by Cil. And yeah, another solid song. It has a bit of a fun beat and she sounds pretty good, plus, this has pretty good lyrics. I'm honestly glad I heard this.
Up next, we have Daniel Seavey from Why Don't We making his solo Hits 1 debut with Lose You Like You Mean It. This is solid. The beat is not as bad is Ethan says it is, and Daniel Seavey sounds pretty good just like Corbyn Besson and Jonah Marais sounded in their solo songs. So yeah, I'll take this.
Lastly, we have a song that's originally from 2005 but has been having a bit of a viral moment these past two months, Headlock by Imogen Heap. And despite being 20 years old... it's actually pretty good? No, I'm being pretty serious here. I like the mysterious production here and Imogen Heap sounds pretty good, plus it's in G Minor, so that almost always means good song. I shouldn't like this. But I do.
We lost Radio, Next Summer, ExtraL, and Safeword. I really wish the first two had debuted because they were pretty good, ExtraL was just there, so I'm fine with that leaving. And Safeword might be in the abyss as it was the extra this week.
Blurbs:
Our exits were Birds Of A Feather (finally), Busy Woman, Guilty, and Squabble Up. Birds Of A Feather should have been gone a LONG time ago, but I'm glad it's finally out of here. I'm also happy Busy Woman only lasted one week, hopefully it never re-enters. Guilty was just there, so I'm fine with that leaving as well. Lastly, Squabble Up flopped pretty hard since it was picked up on pretty late, do better net time Hits 1.
Uhh why did Timeless drop back into the bottom 5?
Slow Motion And Revolving Door both entered the top 20 for the first time. Happier about the first one.
Well, at least Cry For Me rebounded huge.
Love Somebody might be on its way out, but I can't complain too much, it's been here for a decent bit.
Sports Car made it to the top 10. I hope its climb continues.
Die With A Smile and That's So True both switched spots. Hopefully, Die With A Smile continues dropping and gets replaced by Abracadabra in the top 5, and I wouldn't mind That's So True dethroning Pink Pony Club at #1 soon.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
Oh you're going to be here in Kansas City this week? Cool.
