#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Green Day- Smash It Like Belushi
Our first of three debuts this week is Twilight Zone by Ariana Grande. This is solid. It's a rather interesting song and she sounds pretty good, this is just a bit forgettable, that's all.
Next up, we have Miley Cyrus back on the countdown for the first time since Used To Be Young in late 2023, this is called End Of The World. This is pretty good, but not exactly great. It has an interesting beat and Miley Cyrus sounds pretty good, nothing too special though. So it's fine for now, let's hope this doesn't go full Endless Summer Vacation.
Up next, Ed Sheeran is also back on the countdown for the first time since late 2023, this is called Azizam. This song is quite good. The beat is rather fun and Ed Sheeran sounds quite good per usual. Honestly, his best in a hot minute.
Lastly, Wildflower by Billie Eilish re-entered. Ok then.
Hitbound:
Thomas Day- Sleep When We're Dead
Shaboozey/ Myles Smith- Blink Twice (Debut)
Ravyn Lenae- Love Me Not
The Summer Set- Adidas (Debut)
BigXThaPlug/ Bailey Zimmerman- All The Way (Debut)
Crash Adams- Karaoke
Kesha/ T Pain- Yippee Ki Yay
Jack Harlow/ Doja Cat- Just Us
Emei- Crazy Stupid Love
Sombr- Undressed
Michael Clifford- Cool
Dove Cameron- Too Much
Jonah Marais- Better Place
Knox- Going Going Gone
Hayes Warner- Threw Me Away
Max McNown- A Lot More Free (Re-entry)
This first debut comes from Shaboozey and Myles Smith (Interesting collab, I might add), this is called Blink Twice. And this is as good as I was anticipating it to be. The beat here works quite well, Shaboozey and Myles Smith sound surprisingly great together, and this seems to be about not wanting to miss any part of life, and I fully agree with that kind of message. I'm glad this collab exists, and I hope to see it on the countdown soon.
Ok so here's a name that I haven't seen on the countdown in a minute: The Summer Set, who previously had Boomerang in 2013, Lightning In A Bottle in 2014, and Figure Me Out in 2016. Today, they bring us Adidas (apparently, this is an acronym for All Day I Dream About Sex), and I quite like this one. Apparently, lead vocalist Brian Logan Dales was initially friendzoned by his current wife, and these lyrics seem to be about him to his wife during that era, so yeah, definitely a bit relatable for me. Then there is the instrumentation here, and this is so good, and Brian Logan Dales sounds quite good here. Great to see these guys back.
Well, it looks like Hits 1 actually picked up on one of my recommendations from last week, All The Way by BigXThaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman. Well, if there is anything that could possibly challenge Tweaker by LiAngelo Ball for my favorite song of 2025, it has to be this. I always love a solid country trap beat, and this song has just that, paired with Bailey Zimmerman's hook and BigXThaPlug's verses, yeah, the result is something that deserves to have the success it is currently getting, and I hope this becomes huge in the long term.
And... to kill off our list of good entrants, A Lot More Free by Max McNown re-entered. We seriously did not need this.
We lost Wash and Indigo, both of which I'm completely fine with leaving.
Blurbs:
Our exits were Born Again, That's So True, Pink Pony Club, and Burning Down. Born Again is starting to fade on me, so I'm fine with that leaving, and the other three have been here for a decent bit and had great runs, so I'm fine with them leaving as well.
Relieved to see Next Summer rebounding slightly.
Happy that Love Me To Heaven jumped huge off the debut.
Unlike others, I'm more fine with Ordinary in the top 20.
Bed Chem continues to fall hard. Good. Get this out of here soon.
Looks like The Giver is finally trying to do something.
Unfortunately, Bed Chem was replaced in the top 10 by its infinitely worse successor. I'm sure very few people actually wanted this.
Call Me When You Break Up also entered the top 10, which I'm much more fine with.
And we have a new #1 this week. After getting blocked for a few weeks, Abracadabra has made it to #1. I was assuming this would happen soon, and I'm glad it now did. It's definitely Lady Gaga's best song since Rain On Me five years ago (I don't know if I'm forgetting any from the past five years that I might've liked a decent bit), so it definitely deserves the top spot. Unfortunately, Toxic Till The End is right behind it, I hope that gets blocked.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
