We only have one debut this week, it's Folded by Kehlani, and this their first appearance on the countdown since Done For Me with Charlie Puth in 2018, and I believe this is their first ever solo appearance. As for the song itself, it's solid. It's an R&B song but is decently upbeat and Kehlani sounds pretty good. I'll take this.
Hitbound:
Maroon 5- California
Chappell Roan- The Subway (Debut)
Michael Clifford- Remember When
Jonas Brothers- I Can't Lose

Alessi Rose- Dumb Girl

Jessie Murph- 1965
Thomas Day- She Got A Thing About Her
Audrey Hobert- Wet Hair
Our first debut comes from Chappell Roan and her new song, The Subway. This is quite good. It has a decent enough beat and Chappell Roan once again sounds pretty good, plus, this is the first song of hers, at least that I've heard, and the song seems to be about an ex girlfriend of hers that left. So yeah, I can say I've been impressed with what I've heard from her from the past year.
I feel like we're picking up on a bunch of forgettable Renee Rapp songs lately. Her new album Bite Me just dropped, and from it, we have You'd Like That Wouldn't You. I'm mixed on this. It has a solid pop punk beat and she solid... my issue is that the hook (and the bridge) is in a different key than the verses, and I've made it rather clear that this tends to distract me from the rest of the song. There are probably other songs from the album that I could have heard instead.
Demi Lovato is finally back with new music for the first time since 2022 (I'm not counting that one project that was rock versions of her old songs). She is now at work on what seems to be an EDM album, and this actually works for me because my favorite song of hers is No Promises with Cheat Codes from 2017. So this new song is pretty good too.
Lastly, we have a song from Russell Dickerson that has been sort of trending lately, this is called Happen To Me, and this actually got remixed by Steve Aoki. So finally, this made its way on to Hits 1. This is pretty good. It's a solid bro country hookup jam and has a solid beat, and Russell Dickerson sounds pretty good here. So yeah, great song, I'll need to check out the Steve Aoki remix next.
We lost Hot Girl Problems, Gabriela, Vodka Cranberry, and Beautiful Colors. The first two are in the abyss, and Hot Girl Problems is the one I eventually want on the countdown. As for Vodka Cranberry and Beautiful Colors, I'd pe perfectly fine without them.
Blurbs:
Our only exit was Party 4 U. Not even sure why this had to be on here in the first place, honestly.
Sue Me is slowly but surely making its way up the countdown.
Twilight Zone honestly can't decide what to do.
Umm... why did Busy Woman re-enter the top 10?
Well, the good news is that its clone, Manchild, thankfully got dethroned from #1 and was replaced by Ordinary, marking one of the rare times that the #1 song on Hits 1 and the hot 100 is the same. I feel like this took its time to get to the top spot here, but better late than never, especially considering it dethroned Manchild after only one week. So let's see how long this stays, Mystical Magical could take the top spot soon.
I guess that does it for me this week, see you guys next week.
