#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Kygo/ Dan Tyminski- Heaven On Your Mind
Our first debut is the latest single (I'm not sure if it is a single yet or not) from Justin Bieber's Swag trilogy, this is called Speed Demon. This one is pretty good, a lot better than Daisies and as good as Yukon. This has some really solid production and Justin Bieber sounds really good here per usual, and it's in Bb major to enforce my opinion here. Hopefully this does something instead of spending way too long in the bottom 5.
Next up, we have Gracie Abrams's new song Hit The Wall. This one is really good. It has a solid beat to it and Gracie Abrams sounds pretty good here per usual. Good to see her back.
Lastly, we have re-entries from New Religion and Mr Know It All. I'm a bit surprised by the former but I'm still happy and I feel as though Mr Know It All is growing on me a little bit.
Hitbound:
Tiffany Stringer- Supernova
Olivia Rodrigo- The Cure (Debut)
Drake- 2 Hard 4 The Radio
Alessi Rose- Skin (Debut)
Charli XCX- SS26 (Debut)
Noah Kahan- Doors
Sienna Spiro- Material Lover
Martin Garrix/ Ed Sheeran- Repeat It
MGK/ Wiz Khalifa- Girl Next Door
Niall Horan- End Of An Era (Debut)
Kevin Jonas- Little Things
H33ra- Shook (Debut)
Stella Lefty- I Know I Know
Charli XCX- Rock Music
Bella Kay- Promise
Our first debut is the second single off Olivia Rodrigo's upcoming album, this is called The Cure. This is solid, but definitely nowhere near as good as Drop Dead. It feels a bit generic and forgettable and is a bit too long, but Olivia Rodrigo sounds good here, so that makes the song solid enough. I'll take this for now.
Jeezus, do we really need to pick up on every single Alessi Rose song that drops? And we do have one today called Skin. I'll give it this: it's at least better than Sabrina Carpenter's song of the same title from 2021, which also wasn't all that bad. This is just more on the forgettable side but Alessi Rose does sound pretty good here. So, not my first choice on what should debut, but I don't have any issues with this, unlike...
...whatever the actual FUCK I just heard from Charli XCX, this new song is called SS26. I got rather tired of a few of the Brat songs, including 360, and Party 4 U also got extremely annoying, but none of the songs I listed are outright bad. This, however, is. Mainly because the lyrics on this are completely nonsense, and not in a good way, they almost sound like they are written by AI to describe the world ending... basically right now. Charli XCX sounds fine, but that doesn't save this song from being the complete lyrical disaster that it is. Is this as bad as that song Huda from Love Island dropped recently? Definitely not, but more on that story at the end of my worst list later this year... and this will also definitely be in the upper half. NEXT!
So after that trainwreck, we have Niall Horan back where he likely wrote the lyrics himself, I'm assuming that because Mikey Piff said this was somewhat about Liam Payne, and really in general missing someone. This could have been a bit more upbeat, but the production isn't all that bad, and Niall Horan sounds pretty good here. So solid song.
Well, looks like we're ending this on a high note, as we have newcomer H33ra with his song Shook. This is really good. It gives off a good form of 2000s R&B vibes, and H33ra sound quite good here, like a cross between Chris Brown and Jay Sean, that's a good thing. So I have no clue where they found this, but given the other four debuts I talked about, I'm glad they did.
We lost Earrings, Heroine, Carry the Weight, and Tied Up. Earrings, easily the best of the four, is in the abyss, so it could debut soon. As for the other three, I never caught on to them, and while I usually like the artists behind them, those three songs were never entirely for me.
Blurbs:
Our exits were That's When You Know, Roommates, Die On This Hill (finally), and Swim. I'd complain more about That's When You Know flopping, but Kygo just put out a new song with Dan Tyminski (the vocalist on Avicii's song Hey Brother, for those who don't know) called Heaven On Your Mind, and that's a lot better. (By the way, Hits 1 could have picked up on that instead of Skin or SS26, just saying). Roommates had a solid run and was starting to fade on me a little bit. Die On This Hill was complete shit and was on here for way too fucking long, so good riddance to that. Lastly, just as I felt as though Swim was working its way up the charts, it suddenly flopped. It did well enough for a BTS comeback song though.
Bring Your Love finally made a huge jump, that's good to see.
Where Is My Husband is continuing to drop, it's honestly time for this to leave asap.
Drop Dead is this close to the top 10. Hopefully, it is there next week.
Phew. Guess American Girls won't hit #1 after all.
Fever Dream is this close to #1, hopefully we see it at the top spot soon.
I guess that does it for me in this post, see you guys in the next one.
