The busy times are over (part 1) (Week of 4/25/2026)
So I have a definitive reason as to why this (and my next post, which should be released sometime tomorrow) is late, and that was because I was getting ready to graduate from UC, and now that I have, I should have more time to work on these. Up first is new 1 To Watch Ethan Burdick with his song I Get The Picture. I'll give it this: it's a whole hell of a lot better than any Sienna Spiro song I've heard, so thank god she's finally not the 1TW anymore, hopefully, Die On This Hill gets the fuck out of here soon. On to this new Ethan Burdick song, this is solid. It seems to be about a brutal breakup, and he sells this rather well. He also sounds pretty good here and it has tolerable enough production. I wouldn't mind this sticking around for a little bit.
It gets a lot better though, because after a few years, Olivia Rodrigo is back with Drop Dead. This is really good. I like the EDM type production on this when I know she has gone for more of a rock vibe in the past, and she sounds really good here per usual. I have no doubts this will be huge, and I'm ready for that to happen.
Hitbound:
Tyla/ Zara Larsson- She Did It Again
Niall Horan- Little More Time (Debut)
Stella Lefty- Boston
Meghan Trainor- Shimmer (Debut)
The Kid Laroi- Pieces (Debut)
Lewis Capaldi- Stay Love
Demi Lovato- Low Rise Jeans
Weezer/ Best Coast- Go Away (Debut)
Jazmin- Cup Of Tea
Mercer Henderson- Kiss Me Better (Debut)
Noah Kahan- Doors (Debut)
Katseye- Pinky Up
Ella Langley- Bottom Of Your Boots
Shaboozey- Born To Die (Debut)
Tiffany Stringer- Damn Good Actress
Zayn- Side Effects
Our first debut comes from Niall Horan, this is called Little More Time. This is solid. It's rather slow and could have been in a different key, but Niall Horan sounds pretty good here and the message of this is delivered the right way. I'll take this.
We also have new Meghan Trainor on here, this is called Shimmer. This is solid. The EDM production on this makes sense here and it gives off Brat era Charli XCX vibes in a way, mixed with Yes And by Ariana Grande, and Meghan Trainor sounds pretty good here. This could have been in a different key, but it's fine.
The Kid Laroi also has new music this week, this is called Pieces. Mikey Piff compared this to something Michael Jackson would make (rather appropriate with the recent Michael Jackson biopic that was just released), and I can kind of see that. The beat is rather fun and The Kid Laroi sounds pretty good. This is also another song that is about his breakup with Tate McRae... dude, just get the fuck over her already. Plus, this could have been in a different key. So yeah, this could have been better, but it's still good.
Weezer is on Hitbound for the first time since All My Favorite Songs with AJR in 2021, this is called Go Away, and it's with the duo Best Coast. It's actually from 2014, but I don't really mind that. This is rather good. The instrumentation on this is solid and both Rivers Cuomo and Bethany Cosentino sound super good here. Also, I like the lyrics. Rivers Cuomo plays a guy who wants his ex back but the ex, played by Bethany Cosentino, says they're permanently done and does not want him back at all, and interesting fact, Cosentino's lyrics are relatable for me as I have an ex situationship from two years ago and she still wants me back, but I'm not taking her back. So yeah, another solid Weezer song.
Up next, we have newcomer Mercer Henderson with Kiss Me Better. This is really good. The beat here is super fun and Mercer Henderson sounds really good. I'll take this.
Noah Kahan just put out his new album, and from it, we have Doors. This is decent. It sounds a lot like The Great Divide, but a less good version of it. Noah Kahan sounds pretty good though, and that makes the song less forgettable than it should be.
And saving the best for last, we have Shaboozey's latest song Born To Die. Easily my favorite song on here this week. The production gives off major Avicii vibes and the use of fiddles on this makes it all the better, plus, Shaboozey sounds quite good here per usual, and this seems to be the desire to live your life to the fullest while you are at it. So yeah, great song.
We lost Mr Know It All, Potential, White Noise, Fire For Me, and Reputation. The first two are in the abyss, and spoiler alert: Mr Know It All ends up debuting the following week. White Noise was rather forgettable, so I'm fine with that leaving. Fire For Me was a rather interesting song but I never fully expected it to do anything here, and Reputation deserved better.
Blurbs:
Our exits were Bittersweet and A Couple Minutes. A Couple Minutes was rather boring and I'm relieved it flopped, but it shouldn't have outlasted Save My Love, Damn I Love Miami, and DTMF, which it debuted the same week as. And Bittersweet was good but old and starting to fade on me, so I'm also fine with that leaving.
Surprised Sexy For Me jumped five spots off the debut. This grew on me since I last posted, so I'm happy about that.
Also happy to see Swim starting to jump.
I'm expecting Roommates and Choosin Texas to leave in the next few weeks.
Good to see Dinner Party make a jump (although since I'm super late on this, I know this is short lived).
Opalite is finally out of the top 5. Took a bit too long if you ask me.
When Did You Get Hot has now entered the top 5, so it's only a matter of time before this goes #1. Honestly, since this is the best song she's put out in the last few years, I kind of want this to go #1, at least for a few weeks (not too long, though).
I guess that does it for me in this post, see you guys in the next one.
