#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Sheppard- Sayonara
Our first debut I spoiled last week, it's Mr Know It All by Teddy Swims. Yes, he jacked the title from a 2012 Kelly Clarkson song. And said Kelly Clarkson is better than this. The beat is solid enough, and he sounds pretty good, there are some strange elements to the tempo, and I would have preferred it in a different key. So not bad, but it could have been better.
Up next, Stella Lefty makes her way on to the countdown after Thinking Bout You dropped out of Hitbound, this is called Boston, and it's on the Hot 100. I think I like this more than Thinking Bout You. The production is more on the simple side and Stella Lefty sounds pretty good on this. So, a bit of an improvement.
And saving the best for last, we have She Did It Again by Tyla and Zara Larsson coming in at #27. This is so good. It gives off the vibes of other classic Tyla songs and both of them sound pretty good here. That's all I need to say here.
Hitbound:
Lewis Capaldi- Stay Love
Madonna/ Sabrina Carpenter- Bring Your Love (Debut)
Mercer Henderson- Kiss Me Better
Katseye- Pinky Up
Sienna Spiro- Material Lover (Debut)
Niall Horan- Little More Time
Halsey- Carry The Weight (Debut)
Alex Warren- Fine Place To Die (Debut)
Meghan Trainor- Shimmer
Ella Langley- Be Her (Debut)
Maroon 5- Heroine (Debut)
Maroon 5- Heroine (Debut)
Jazmin- Cup Of Tea
Bella Kay- Promise (Debut)
Shaboozey- Born To Die
The Kid Laroi- Pieces
Noah Kahan- Doors
Honest confession: I didn't know Madonna was still making albums. Last I heard from her was Popular with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti three years ago, and I think she last put out an album in 2019. Well, she's now making a sequel to her 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor (the one that spawned Hung Up) called Confessions II, and from it, we have Bring Your Love with Sabrina Carpenter. This is honestly quite good. The EDM production on this is rather groovy and both Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter sound really good on this. Yeah, such a good song.
Wait, what? Sienna Spiro made an upbeat song for once? It's a fucking miracle! Anyways, she is back with Material Lover, and this is super good for her standards. As I stated, this has actual production and Sienna Spiro sounds a whole hell of a lot better here than she normally does. I never thought I'd compliment a Sienna Spiro song, but if she makes more songs like this, like how Chappell Roan did a couple years ago, I may start to get into her music. And Material Girl could grow on me as well.
Ok. Halsey's album The Great Impersonator is two years old and she's just now putting out the deluxe edition, and from it, we have Carry The Weight. This is solid. It sounds a little bit like Love Story by Taylor Swift mixed with a bit of a rock influence. And the rock production is solid and Halsey sounds pretty good here. I'll take this two years after the initial album's release.
Alex Warren also has new music out, this is called Fine Place To Die. This is rather good. People tend not to like when Alex Warren does slower songs, but I don't usually mind. And as for this, it reminds me a little bit of his songs On My Mind and Eternity from last year, and I liked both of those, and of course, the former was on my 2025 best list. Alex Warren once again sounds really good here. Yet another great song from him.
So in my last post, I recommended Ella Langley's new song with Morgan Wallen for Hitbound. We do have a song from her to talk about, but this is not that one. Instead, we have Be Her. Though this is also pretty good. The beat is once again solid and Ella Langley sounds per usual. Super fun.
A year after their album Love Is Like, Maroon 5 has a new song called Heroin. Mikey Piff actually compared this to their classic songs, and I can sort of see that. The beat here is super catchy and Adam Levine sounds quite good here per usual. Glad they're still around.
Lastly, Bella Kay brings her second song to Hits 1, this is called Promise. This honestly makes more sense than ILoveItILoveItILoveIt does. It's more on the chill side and Bella Kay sounds pretty good. I'm still fine with her for now.
We lost Low Rise Jeans, Side Effects, Bottom Of Your Boots, Damn Good Actress, and Go Away. I liked the majority of these but didn't think they would do a whole lot, aside from Go Away, which should have lasted more than one week if it was never going to debut the countdown.
Blurbs:
Our exits were New Religion, Dinner Party, and Younger You. I don't exactly like that New Religion flopped, and I thought Dinner Party would continue jumping, but I'm perfectly fine with Younger You flopping.
I Get The Picture made a surprisingly huge jump for being the 1TW.
Need Your Love is starting to take off, that's great to see.
Swim is now in the top 20. Great to see that.
The Great Divide took a bit of a hit. And I'm late enough to know this rebounds in the next countdown.
Opalite also took a huge hit. Good. Get the fuck out of here.
Stateside is this close to the top 10.
I Just Might is finally not #1. Felt a bit too long even though I still like the song.
American Girls jumped huge into the top 5. Unnecessary. Hopefully, this gets blocked.
When Did You Get Hot is now at #2, and I know it's only a matter of time before this goes #1, and I'm ready for that.
And our new #1 is Homewrecker. I'll definitely take this, which is Sombr's second ever #1 following Undressed last year. I'm not sure how long this will last with both Harry Styles and Sabrina Carpenter ready to overtake it, but I'll take this for one or two more weeks if necessary.
I guess that does it for me in this post, see you guys in the next one.
