Catch up post after Europe trip
Hello everyone, it feels so good to be back after a week in Europe, and every day felt really long even though I had a blast traveling. I opened a thread in the discord about my one year anniversary post for people to ask questions for a one year anniversary page on this blog, that is also where I will be sharing some pictures from the trip. So what will this post look like? It will look like those chart check ins Beluga did for a couple months after he stopped doing weekly posts. Let's get into it
Countdown Debuts:
David Guetta/ Anne Marie/ Coi Leray- Baby Don't Hurt Me
Fifty Fifty- Cupid
The Weeknd/ Future- Double Fantasy
Illenium/ Avril Lavigne/ Travis Barker- Eyes Wide Shut
Crash Adams- Give Me A Kiss
Taylor Swift- Karma
Morgan Wallen- Last Night
Niall Horan- Meltown
Sza- Snooze
Melanie Martinez- Void
Baby Don't Hurt Me is easily my favorite song on here rn. He did a great job producing and the What Is Love sample is executed flawlessly.
Cupid is good for Kpop standards, although I don't love it. It could definitely grow on me.
I love me a good The Weeknd/ Future collab and Double Fantasy is as good as I was expecting.
Illenium the rapper released his new self titled album the day I left, and I will be reviewing it as part of my one year anniversary. From the album, we have Eyes Wide Shut with Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, and this is a banger.
Give Me a Kiss is pretty good. I feel like this is growing on me. We shall see.
I don't think I needed another Midnights single. But Karma is here, and it's as bad and overrated as Anti Hero and Lavender Haze.
I was expecting Last Night to debut, but not as high as it did. It is so good, just like the other songs from him I've heard.
Niall Horan's new song Meltdown sounds a lot like Some Kind Of Disaster by All Time Low, and this is a good thing.
I'm not sold on Snooze, which is the next single off Sza's SOS album, but it's not bad at all.
I talked about Void right before leaving, and my opinion still stands.
Countdown Exits:
Taylor Swift- All Of The Girls You've Loved Before
Lady Gaga- Bloody Mary
Halsey- Die 4 Me
Raye/ 070 Shake- Escapism
Miley Cyrus- Flowers
Gracie Abrams- I Know It Won't Work
The Kid Laroi- Love Again
Meghan Trainor- Mother
Sza- Nobody Gets Me
Coi Leray- Players
Lizzo/ Sza- Special
All Of The Girls You've Loved Before, Bloody Mary, Escapism, and Flowers were all really bad and did not deserve as much success as they got, so good riddance to all of those.
I thought Die 4 Me would jump in the top 5, but it left on Week 2. It should have dropped a bit before leaving.
I Know It Won't Work was not as good as Where Do We Go Now, so I'm fine with that leaving.
Love Again was not that great, plus, Dua Lipa had a better song with that title.
Mother got robbed hard.
Nobody Gets Me was getting kind of old and not that great, so I'm fine with that leaving.
As much as I liked Players, I don't think Hits 1 knew where to keep it at all.
Special should have had more success here.
HB Debuts:
Coi Leray- Bops
David Kushner- Daylight
Jason Derulo- Glad U Came
Icandy- Keep Dat
Ed Sheeran- Life Goes On
Presley Regier- Nevermind
Stephen Sanchez- Only Girl
Lu Kala- Pretty Girl Era
Ice Spice/ Nicki Minaj- Princess Diana
Jack Harlow- They Don't Love It
Bops sounds a little bit like Best Friend by Saweetie and Doja Cat, and that's a good thing imo.
I have no clue how Daylight is blowing up, because it is slow and not good at all. It's at least better than Harry Styles's song of the same title.
Glad U Came sounds quite a bit like Derulo's 2015 song Want To Want Me, and I mean that as a good thing. It's not as good as The Wanted's song of the same name, however.
Keep Dat is super cool, I think this will be a hit from what Mikey Piff is saying about it.
Ed Sheeran has done worse ballads than Life Goes On, but Oliver Tree's song of the same title is still better.
Nevermind is an interesting song, nothing too memorable though.
Wait, what? Stephen Sanchez made an upbeat song? All right, I'll take it. Anyways, Only Girl is my favorite Stephen Sanchez song so far, the production completely does it.
With the success of Lottery, Hits 1 picked up on a solo Lu Kala song. Pretty Girl Era is pretty good but I'm not entirely sold yet.
Princess Diana is such a fun song, and Nicki Minaj's verse goes very well with the rest of the song.
Jack Harlow put out a new album called Jackman a few weeks ago, and from it we have They Don't Love It. This is such fun, he has such a great flow here.
HB Dropouts:
Kim Petras/ Nicki Minaj- Alone
Bazzi- Eyes
Raye/ Coi Leray- Flip A Switch
JP Saxe- I Don't Miss You
Maisie Peters- Lost The Breakup
Labrinth/ Billie Eilish- Never Felt So Alone
Stephen Sanchez- Only Girl
Rita Ora/ Fatboy Slim- Praising You
Nicki Minaj- Red Ruby Da Sleeze
AJR- The Dumb Song
Alone, Never Felt So Alone, and Praising You are in the abyss, so maybe they debut next week.
I forgot what Eyes sounds like.
Honestly, Flip A Switch should have been more of a hit than Escapism.
I Don't Miss You was super good and I would have loved to see it on the countdown.
I was never too sold on Lost The Breakup, so I'm fine with that going.
Only Girl deserved more than one week in Hitbound, but I guess Hits 1 only lets his ballads on the countdown.
Red Ruby Da Sleeze lasted pretty long here, plus, I never loved it all that much.
The Dumb Song really should have debuted.
Notable movements:
We have one notable movement to talk about. As I predicted, Heaven by Niall Horan hit #1 this week. I'm perfectly fine with this, since 10:35 even hit #1 at all, let alone lasted 6 weeks in the #1 spot, plus, Heaven is a great song, especially since Niall Hran is not as overrated as Harry Styles.
Thanks for reading, and I will see you guys next week with my regularly scheduled post.
